Most putts on one hole?

Temporary green on par 3 after severe frost following heavy rain. The green was completely sloping and like a sheet of glass. Tee shot nearly on the temp, came off with a 9. The ball just kept sliding downhill then back up above the hole again. Not proper putting but still 8 of them.

I played in a society at Rutland water a couple of years ago.

On the par3 course there was one particularly tricky pin position. One of out players was 2' from the hole in 1 and walked off with an 8!!

Tee shot - putt - bunker shot - putt - bunker shot - putt - bunker shot - holed putt.

4 putt for me on Sunday (am sure there are others), my putter gets threatened with being snapped after a 3 putt, I must be getting soft as it didnt even get a gentle lob :)

In a Rotella (I think) book ,there is a story about Seve.

After a round, he was asked about a 4-putt he had on one of the greens.

His answer was simple.

"I putt and miss. I putt and miss. I putt and miss. I putt and make."

4 putt after reaching a par 4 in 1 :'(

I have done that twice on the same hole two rounds in a row... it was a micky mouse green tbh, the 16th of the Parkland course at East Horton. The pin always seems to be on a sever slope when I play it and my first putt ends up at the bottom of the green, often off the fringe...

I do have one on a micky mouse green that will take the crown here... I did not mention it before as its due to the greenstaff choosing an impossibe pin rather than my poor technique.

Playing Otterbourne on a dry summers evening, a pleasant but poorly kept 9 hole course near Chandlers Ford in Hampshire. Was +3 gross standing on the 7th tee, a ~190 yard uphill par 3. I took a 3 iron that pitched nicely on the front and rolled up to 8 feet left of the hole. I then proceeded to lip out and the ball roll 10 yards off the front of the green, leaving a chip back up to the slope. My shot ended up rolling back towards me... 15 shots later I holed out for an 18 after sinking a lucky shot that went past the hole and rolled back down into it. At one point I ended up nearly 15 yards off the front of the green. I even got stuck on the bank behind the hole and then wafted a putt that raced back off the front again.

I did complain in the pro shot and the guy said I was not the first and the greenkeeper will be informed, why I was not told before I teed off I will never know!

I five putted our 18th green twice last year. :o

Friend of mine had five attempts at our first hole from 15 feet in a stableford. The sixth putt he smacked towards his bag and holed out into a bunker.

Has been known for the odd Pro to four putt our fifth green.

Capped at four at the moment and to be honest the odyssey #9 was back in my bag today and if it carries on behaving as it did during todays debacle then that number will never be repeated. Putted great

I'm sure I must have had a 5 putt at some point but can't remember exactly when.

I'll 4 putt every so often, usually when I'm not really concentrating because I've made a mess of the hole already. :o

Yep. Me too.

Like racing a 10 footer past trying to make it, missing the one coming back and then failing to tap in one handed on one leg as you've blown the points anyway. Only in Stableford that one.

I heard a story of a pro taking 6 putts on one of the most treacherous greens in the Midlands, it wasn't so much the 6 putt that upset him, it was the laughing after his 4th (coming back downhill for the 2nd time!!) rolled off the front of the green....where he'd been 4 shots earlier. :)
