In the first club major I played in I found the bunker with my tee shot on the par 3 18th, I finally got it onto the green at the 11th attempt and 2 putts gave me my highest score on a hole of 14.
The worst I have seen is my friend in a comp at Mere, put her 3rd into a bunker on the par 5 16th, I counted 18 attempts to get it out. she finished with something like 24 on the hole.

6 for me ,it was the 8th hole at woodlands manor ,a short hole downhill and the bunker is right in front of the green and very very deep as the green is raised . on the day the pin was just over the lip of the bunker ,and i came up a few inches short , the bunker is that deep that you are faced with about an 8 to 10 ft wall in front of you .
as said it took six as i was determined not to be beaten by it ,but in truth it killed me.

The great news is he then went and put his 15th shot into another bunker and ended up with a 19 - the good news is he had a shot on the hole

I picked up after 10 on a par-5 once. As for bunker shots I tend not to frequent bunkers that often (I tend to go for round after round without finding a bunker and then suddenly I'll find 2/3/4 or even 5 of the buggers in a single round) and as far as I can remember I've only ever taken 2 (possibly 3) shots at most to get out of one...:thup:

I played a 9 hole course on Saturday, PlaySport East Kilbride , i was informed that it has 50 bunkers spread over the 9 holes, TBH there didn't seem that many
Luckily i only found 3 of them all on the 2nd 9, that resulted in 2 blobs and a lucky bogie 4.

Recall many moons ago playing with a mate on a coastal short well guarded par 3. After a handful of shots to escape the bunker he made it onto the top tier on the green. Probably still angry he then over hit the putt onto the lower tier and into the opposite bunker. Was crying with laughter
Taken four to get out of a bunker and 14 the most on one hole in a medal. Would have picked up otherwise
