Most Iconic Golf Picture

"The Shot" Christy O'Connor's shot to the 18th at the Belfry at the 1989 Ryder Cup. It secured GB & I a 13-10 win. Painting by Graeme Baxter. We have a copy of this, signed by Christy, in our clubhouse. I was an acquaintance of his in the late 60s when he was an assistant pro at my club. In those days he was tall & skinny, I doubt he was more than 10 stones. When his portly self appeared on the European Tour I couldn't believe he was the same person.

Seve had long been a favourite of mine and that victory was just another iconic moment for me
Exactly - I didn't see this live - set off camping that day - can remember first time I saw that pic on the back of a paper next day. I've worked alongside Dave Cannon who took that pic at a couple of tournaments, it was his first Open, probably the best golf photographer during the years between then and now.

Dave Cannon had a small studio around the corner from my house (more an archive/storage facility) and he always had some picture in the window. I met him once coming out and asked if he could get a Seve autograph but he never did!.
