More than Hairdryers from Fergie

The problem isnt the video refs, its respect within the game thats the problem, players dont respect the refs so then the fans feel they can shout what they want at the ref. They have no respect for fellow colleagues when lunging in for dangerous tackles just so they can earn that extra few quid. If people had more respect for the refs and the jobs they did then we would have 10times the amount of refs coming through the ranks instead its an unwanted job. Look at the rugby yeah the ref may make some strange decisions but they talk about it for 30 secs and its forgotten where as we will have replays of both pens for the coming week.

And this is why I dont watch that much football anymore!! Typical example was the Luiz goal, went for a header and was challenged weakly by Ferdinand and the ball went in. As Luiz was falling at an angle but watching the ball go in managed to securee his footing/balance and stumble off to celebrate... If that wasnt a goal he would have collapsed on the floor as if shot!

It isn't just United that dive. That penalty City got yesterday was dubious too. Baird had pulled out and Johnson latched HIS leg around Baird's and went down. I wasn't overly fussed as being a Fulham fan I've seen it all before and I knew we'd get nothing yesterday. Still I'd have preferred to have lasted more than ten minutes before being conned out of the first goal

Chelsea were shocking. Two freak goals helped them to a 3-0 lead. They then bottled it and were fortunate to hang in for a point.

They can't blame refs for anything, given how many decisions they've got down the years at Stamford Bridge. The ref won them the title in 2009/2010 with a dodgy goal, ironically against Man Utd.

Chelsea have been so poor this season I may have to eat humble pie give if Newcastle or Liverpool make the CL places.

Man City and Man Utd are gonna battle it out but I really hope Spurs win it. Most exciting team to watch.

I was at that game and we won 2-1 at Old Trafford. Wasnt Man Utds goal a hand ball anyway? lol. Or are you talking about the Terry goal at Stamford bridge which was quite dodgy?

I hate Man utd and their cheating scummy diving idiots with a passion. Complete and utter terrible referee who has given Man Ure at least a draw.

You're not much of a knob then!
Pray, which team of angels is it that you support then?

Slime.

P.S. 'Hate' is a very strong word.

I watched the match yesterday and thought Chelsea were lucky that they only had 2 penalties against them.

Do people really think that Howard Webb favours Man Utd? I don't think so, no more so than any other team in the Premiership.

He is the best ref in the premiership, and don't forget was chosen to referee the World Cup Final.

In reference to respect to referee's, my Son in Law is a referee and has 10 year olds to pub teams. He says of the 10 year olds, if they give him any lip or commit a reckless tackle, the coaches will pull the player to one side and tell him, "Anymore of that and you will be substituted straight away."

So it is coming through at grass roots level - in 10-15 to 20 years time perhaps we will see the respect that referees deserve.

You mention cheating......................................ahem.
John Teary, Cashley Cole, Tank Lumpo'lard & of course Fernando Torres whose cheated Chelski out of £50M !!
He's got more yellow cards than goals............ha ha ha ha ha .

Those of you that think Welbeck didn't cheat for that penalty are either deluded or know nowt about playing football. ABSOLUTELY NOWT! He hung his leg out and dived onto the floor. He cheated. He not only deceived the referee but also tried to get a fellow professional sent off. That said, it is not really his fault. He is just another dimwit with his brains in his feet, showered with adoration by sycophants and cash from Murdoch's gutter and cast adrift with no moral compass.

He is the modern Premiership footballer incarnate. A cheat. No manners. Mentally very limited. No respect for the game or authority and the reason why so many people are becoming tired of our national game. It is run by morons, played by those of the underclass that luck out and make it and watched by the gullible.

Modern football at the highest level in our country is rubbish. A moral vacuum and a significant factor in the decay of accepted values of decency in the last three generations.

You will all agree with me one day!

1.) He hung his leg out and dived onto the floor. You obviously watched it then.

2.) He is the modern Premiership footballer incarnate. A cheat. No manners. Mentally very limited. I take it that you obviously know him very well.

3.)
It is...............watched by the gullible. You're obviously gullible, I refer you to point number 1.).

Just thought I'd mention those three things.......................................

I was on about the Terry goal at The Bridge. Was pissed off as Utd not winning the title messed up my 4 league outright winning bet at pretty decent odds!

One stat: 17% of Webbs 54 prem penalty awards have been to utd. Oh what a tangled WEBB we weave, when we practice to deceive.

I agree slightly, was the best in the prem 2-3 years ago, but think he believes his own hype now. Ok, he reffed a world cup final, but De Jongs chest high tackle on Alonso!!!!!

I don't quite know why you would as they make little sense and certainly are not a counter argument.

Stats or not, I stand by what I said. Look at how Man Utd play, always in and around the box, it's no wonder they get their fair share of penalties.

I also agree, never mind De Jongs tackle, I think the whole team should of been sent off!!!!

I'll agree with you right now

Nail on the head!

Man U are without doubt the most vociferous appealers / ref swarmers in the Prem today and is not something restricted to the oppositions penalty area*. The Kompany incident in the FA Cup game v City, Rooney turns his back on an in-play ball less than 5 yards away to run arms outstretched at Chris Foy - who then blows his whistle? Giggs has gone exactly the same in the past few years. Has to be a tactic prompted by a management directive.
* though Nefertiti Welbeck did a commendable job at the weekend in getting off his appeal prior to hitting the deck

I don't want to get in an argument with you Beachgolfer on this. :)

As far as I'm concerned, ALL premiership teams swarm the referee and act like children not getting their own way.

Until they act more like Rugby players - a 20 stone, 6ft man mountain of a man looking down on a 5ft.8" referee and saying, "Yes sir", walking away and getting on with the game.
That is the respect all referee's should be getting from all football teams.

Until this happens, many more people like myself and others on this forum will continue to have less and less interest in the game of so called football.

We can all call someone a name. I was stating my opinion when wound up which I slightly regret now I have calmed. I still dislike Man Utd very strongly though, is that a better word for you?. Idiot

Fully agree with this. In rugby the captain gets called over along with the player and its dealt with respectivly, after they have knocked 7 shades out of each other.
