She's just come through the door and the first thing that falls out is a Poker Chip marker and then a packet of 5 tee's by Champ called Fly tee PRO.

Now these I will give a try, especially as they state the following

Extreme Distance
Extremely Accurate
Extremely Durable

I have no issue with the last bullet point, the first one might be that they follow the ball further than my current tee's do  but the 2nd point, well the jury's out, not sure how a "tee" can be "accurate"?

They have a soft shock absorbing colour tip and no doubt due to the 6 "low friction" prongs I'm going to get "exceptional distance & accuracy".

Are these tee's the answer to all our woes?

I'll be looking for all the reports back on them :)

Did you not pay any attention to my tee fitting thread???? You can't just pick up any old tee and expect it to improve your game!

Any Tee producer that claims greater Distance and Accuracy is simply talking rubbish imo. At least for a normal swing.

Just got home, GM delivered. Tees a joke.

Shock absorbing colour tip on low friction six point head. 'Cause these are real issues with your everyday tee aren't they?
exceptional distance & accuracy. Which way do I turn it to cure my slice?
And the best bit... TOUR PROVEN. On which tour?

Absolute load of nonsense. Period. At least they'll absorb the shock of landing in the bin.

Why do GM associate themselves with this garbage?

I'm sorry to hear you dont like one of the gifts that comes with the new issue. I guess we'll never please everyone all of the time when it comes to covermounts like this.

In terms of the performance benefits yes I'd agree the claims are big ones and no we havent independetly verified them but as the manufatcuer is Champ (http://champspikes.com) who, if you have a pair of FJ Icons, FJ Sport and indeed many other top golf shoes you'll be using thier spikes I'd have thought they have done some testing that could back up their claims and be covered when it comes to advertising standards.

In fact a quick look at thier site on the page for this product (http://champspikes.com/products/golf/accessories/fly-tees/zarma-flyteepro/) says they have been independently robot tested.

In terms of them being Tour Proven I'd guess they have some guys on Tour using them. Again we haven't verified this but would assume for a compnay of thier size the wouldnt put it on the packaging if they couldn't back up the claim

At the end of the day it's a packet of tees that are FREE. If you never tee your ball up then I guess you'd never have a use for such a device so the bin could be one option or perhaps give them to a friend who does use tees. I seem to remember Homer teed it up when I played with him at the forum day so he may like them.

if used smilies then i'd do winky smilley type one

Lads ....................... they are free for gods sake , it doesnt matter if they work or not ,

personaly i probably wont use them i didnt use the last lot , unlike rooter i didnt use the stickers :p, i never even looked at the stroke saver for muirfield , but im still thankful to GM for the freebies .. Crikey

EDIT .. Darn ya mike i was trying to say that :smirk:

Mike,

Notwithstanding my opinion that there's no perceivable benefit from such tees - over similar height tees of any other format - I'd still be happy to accept such gifts. There's obviously some commercial arrangement between GM and Champ involved too.

As for the 'Tour Proven' reference, look no further than your fellow club member and playing partner - Homer. His mate Brett Rumford is a 'proven winner' with both them and Champ ProStinger Spikes (which I found great where allowed). I'd be rather surprised if there wan't a commercial arrangement there as well!

How many people on here do you know with a 'NORMAL' swing

Good point! :D

They are free. If you don't use them then you have lost nothing, however if you use them & you loke them then you are on a winner. I just love the poker chip! Can I have a "Bandit" one next time please!!!!

Hi Mike, thanks your replying. I appreciate they are free etc etc but we've had the conversation about these type of things before and I stand by my opinion. A tee that increase distance and accuracy? Exactly how much friction is there between a tee and a ball that reduces distance and by how much? Independently tested maybe, longer in total distance, maybe, but the fact they don't say how much tells me everything I need to know.

Sorry if my post came across as a bit of a rant and I appreciate GM will have their reasons for putting them in the mag and the association that comes with it.

I'll do the smiley for you ;)

The fact Brett Rumford might use them only tells me he's getting paid and they aren't any worse than a normal tee.

Surely you realise that this is the way all such deals work?

Why do you think TM are obsessed with Driver counts; or Nike with securing the 'top' names! Slightly different strategies, but with the same goals - to sell more kit to ordinary golfers!

As long as the claims aren't outright lies - and who knows what the other tees in the independent test were - then it's simply the usual Marketing B/S.

And to either believe or take exception to such claims - any more than pointing out the b/s - is rather daft imo.
