I know there was a post not too long ago about someone wanting a cheaper alternative to the ProV1, just reread it, but it doesn't seem quite to answer what I'm needing.

ATM I'm playing with the cheapest rubbish I can find. Dunlop Loco balls which I got for £6 for 15. That's 40p per ball I think.

Arrogant git that I am, I think I'm ready to move up just the one step.

I'm not talking going with Titleist yet, but something that will still give me good distance off the tee, but with at least a little stopping power on the green.

A slightly better 2 piece ball, or a cheaper end 3 piece, maybe ?

I can get over to AG in Shoreham occaisionally, so I've looked at their site, but not been in yet.

Anyone tried Top Flite D2 Feel ? They sound like they're the sort of thing I'm looking for, but are rediculously cheap - £5 per doz.

Or Wilson Deep Red Control 3 piece at £8 per doz ?

I know I don't want something like the good old Top Flite XL rock hard last forever and a day, but will never stop on a green in a month of sundays.

But I'm still a pretty inconsitant golfer who will blow up on a couple of holes a round, so I'll lose a few balls each time I'm out.

And I'm still borassic.

But I want to give myself some kind of chance around Chartham Park in a couple of weeks. And I get the feeling investing too heavily, just to fire half a dozen balls into a lake or two, will possibly put me off my game a smidge.

It never used to be this tough just to grab a pack of balls. Any advice warmly welcomed.

My hit list goes something like

Price / Distance / Stopability / Feel.

God I'm confused. I mean, what's wrong with the Nicklaus Super Soft ? Why is the Srixon Ad333 supposed to be so much better ?

My head hurts

I've used the Noodle Ice balls in the past, pink ones to embarrass my playing partner at the time!

Assuming they're a close relative of the Noddle they were a great ball.

They are a good ball...

As I say, I'll bring a couple of sleeves with me to Chartham so that you can give them a try.
Also, you expressed an interest in my "Benny" driver a few weeks ago. If you are still interested in it, I'll bring that along with me too and you can play with it to see how you get on with it. If you like it, great, if you don't....well you've lost nothing have you? It's a great driver, very forgiving, and has the best shaft fitted to it (Grafalloy Prolaunch Red).
Just let me know and as I say, I'll pop it in the boot on the day.
If you want it, take it away with you and just pay me "as and when".

As long as noone says anything to Minnie, I'd love a session with Benny on the side ( that just sounds soooo wrong :o ) I mean, I don't want her getting moody with me with all that water around - it could end in tears - mine !

And the ball sounds great. Just what I'm looking for - Cheap budget with just a hint of quality to try to help me look less twonkish round the greens.

Brill !!

I'm getting pathetically, childishly excited now :(
