In terms of courses on the current Open rotation, TOC has a lot of the tradition and character, but in terms of a visual treat, I think Royal Birkdale is hard to beat with the big dunes and the holes weaving between them.

If we include past courses, then I would go for Royal Portrush, the 1951 venue.

It doesn't get better than St.Andrews, 2000, running up the 18th to watch Tiger seal his first open, not before my brother jumped the burn and a streaker ran across the course! Good times.

Went for Troon, cos its nearest my humble abode!

Also its a bloody tough track. Back nine is a monster into the wind.

That was a classic! David Duval nightmare on the road hole! Muirfield, although that might be cos I had money on Els to win that in '02. There were discussing this the other day on Sportlobster. It's a tough one really, Carnoustie is another fave of mine cos it's such a beast! Can turn the biggest players into minions.

I have played Birkdale twice fairly recently and I honestly don't recall big dunes and the holes weaving through them.I am going to research my memory now.

I liked Birkdale, nice but not a patch on Muirfield IMO or indeed for me TOC but TOC has a special place in my heart and always will so I am a tad biased!
