Overnight leader Molinari has been DQ in the Irish Open for signing for a score on the wrong hole. Dont these people ever learn?
I accept that the rules are there and we must abide by them but in Professional Golf why can't they dispense with the players having scorecards altogether.
They have a posse of hangers-on following them around and if I remember correctly there is someone jotting down the scores and radioing them through to the scoreboards. So if someone is already marking the scoring why bother doing it again? This would negate the DQing for marking incorrect scores. Lets face it in the Roe/Parnevik saga everyone knew what scores both players had just that they marked them on the wrong cards - who the hell cares? They've still played the holes and scored what they've scored and millions on TV have seen them do it.
So in Pro golf have markers. In amateur golf we do it ourselves for the obvious reason.
