Shaun, we tend to react more to threads that have had several complaints. We dont just go into a thread and wipe it out because it offended one individual. Moderators have a section on the forum away from public gaze where we can discuss potential contentious posts, threads and subjects. Your post was reported and acted upon. It happens daily and a lot of the time goes unnoticed (also why not every single moderated user gets a pm, it is simply too time consuming). I have to say that I dont see why you are upholding this issue regarding a joke about a dead person. If it was about a real life issue that affected us personally then fair enough...

I don’t want to linger on this at all and would have left it at that. But I must respond to correct what I consider a slur against me, regarding “making jokes about a dead person”.

If you read the post you will know the butt of the joke was about Suarez, Evra, Dalglish and Fergusson, the reference to Whitney Houston was minimal and inoffensive. Especially compared to some of the posts that are still there to be read on the Whitney Houston thread, and are deeply offensive towards her memory. This is what I consider to be inconsistent.

I make my point and end it there.

And as for running to Mike with anything you didn't like, I still remember that pm threat of calling the wrath of GM Towers on me for calling you to account over some trivial matter (another stretching of the truth again maybe?).

We have had our spats. After certain events, I offered a truce and we accepted our differences. Quite honestly, I'm now sorry I bothered. Your recent behaviour has confirmed my previous and ongoing opinion - you are a total plank. BTW,it's not just me. Have you noticed that over the last 2 or 3 days, there have only been a very few replies made against your (many) posts. I guess that you are now on many "ignore" lists for reasons I can't begin to imagine.

Homer, I suggest you have a serious think about this post otherwise the "discussion" you had with GB72 can be posted here for people to make up there own minds about whether you had any input or not. Why should you have have had any influence on the discussions that the mods had? There was nothing wrong with letting the original thread run IMO as it hadn't crossed the line in any of the replies, so because you don't like the problems you brought on yourself it is now our fault? Get a grip of yourself and man up, take some responsibility for yourself and stop blaming everyone else.

P.S. the constant references to mike are wearing a bit thin now.

You offered a truce. Really? Were we at war. I thought it was a forum where differences of opinion drove the thing forward. As for your opinon of me - well thats fine - its a case of mind over matter - I don't mind and you dont matter

Greg posted to me via PM as to what had been going on behind the scenes and alluded to discussions between mods. My point which is a simple one was if there had been some transgression of acceptable behaviour, rather than taking a unilateral decision of action as happened why it couldn' have been discussed further and an offer of mitigation or explanaton offered. That was it. Thats all I was asking. As per the Mike issue, in this instance I disagree vehmently with the conclusion arrived at and so want to bat it back to Mike at some point. As last week was copy deadline it was hardly the appropriate time to be deflecting his time away to these matters.

No conspiracy, no hassle just a polite enquiry which I think has been taken a little out of context. If appropriate I'm more than happy to contine via PM to you or any of the mods. As I say its more a case of clarity I'm after than any huge debates into the whys and wherefors and who said what about who

I don't really want to continue the discussion too much further. If any of the mods want to delete my post and we can go offline. If any of the mods would care to make a response via PM then fine, if not I'll contact Mike in due course and we'll leave it at that. Seems reasonable all round don't you think

If you're referring to the question "why was the thread left open", as has been stated, it was left open to let it run it's course as it was deemed (after a discussion between the Mods with Mike's input) that no one had over stepped the mark. Yes, the majority of the posts were directed at you but they were well within the line (we felt) given the circumstances and the evidence to hand. It was decided that closing the thread would only fuel the fire even further.

To be fair Homer you got off lightly. I've no wish to open it up again, but in the main it was good humoured.

Obviously you were the butt of the joke but you deserved it. You really can't indulge in such rampant self
promotion and then go and tell the teacher when it goes wrong. Chin up !!

As for the mods carry on the good work (Can't beleive you have let a delicate flower like thecraw be subject to such abuse!! It's been up 3 hours now first mod to find it wins a prize!!)

To be frank Martin however t was decided doesn't really have much to do with you. Aztecs has answered your question and I shall leave it a that as to clearly have a problem with something that in my opinion was dealt with far more transparency than you should really have been afforded.

It's probably none of my business being a relative newbie BUT

Threads like this are doing no-one any favours especially GM.

The moderators do a pretty good job from what I've seen (and I have had my knuckles wrapped offline a couple of times)

I've witnessed bigger forum than this close because of infighting and it would be a great shame for this to happen to the GM forum.

Time to clean up I think and move on.

Spot on Chris.

iirc, that was exactly the main reason H got the ache with me. There were many issues at the time where we had opposing views - but mine weren't allowed apparently. I was really so scared with the threatening pm's though, that I nearly had to go for counselling. ​

I totally agree with what you say and in the main I also think the mods do a bang on job. I've sent a reply via PM and we'll see what comes but more than happy to draw a HUGE line and move on. I've asked my question - got an answer and thats that.
