Hi All,

I was playing on the Mizuno web site last night as you do when you only see blue! Last year they added a rating system for each of their clubs, it was some what vague with low handicappers at one and high handicapper at the other and a pretty linear set of dots in the middle.

It seems they really want to be clear about it this year and there is now a database style search option that once you fill in some basic information will tell you your best options for "most forgiving", "most workable" and "best blend".

I find it interesting that they have decided to nail there colours to the mast and be specific about who should be using what in their range.

Clearly this is a guide as every golfer is different. I wonder if this is an attempt to appeal and make better provision for higher handicappers.

Anyone wana buy my MP-53s... they dont want me to be using them till I am sub 15.... :o

Al

http://golf.mizunoeurope.com/irons/ and "Click What is best for me" half way down if your interested.

My MP32's are not even on it so it must be down to the best suited for you that you can buy still ha ha so its for sales rather than customer benifit ..

What did you have before the 53's Alex?

It's all subjective, but it might be down to the fact they have three different types of JPX irons, so they want to make sure people are looking at the right ones for their ability? I have no idea really, just guessing. Nice feature though.

This is probably a greater reflection of the consumer's bewilderment at the range of choices than a truly accurate recommendation. There is loads of psychology and marketing research which shows that people basically want to be given clear advice and many freeze if they have to think for themselves.

There are Mizuno Tour players using MP69s and others using JPX Pros. The latter are for 11-15 handicappers wanting a blend of forgiveness and workability, apparently.

Also, handicap is a very crude discriminator of ball striking. There are 6 handicappers who are very average ball strikers but great chippers and putters, and who should be using maximum GI clubs, and others who are great ball strikers who should use blades or minimal cavity players irons.

I was using Wilson Fat Shafts Deep Reds...

Ye, its a little of all of what you guys have said I guess, I thought there would be more text/disclaimers about it being a guide and best to get custom fit... as this is there ethos. I am not bagging on them, I think its a good idea as its a starter for ten.

Ye I had a little play and put myself as all different handicappers its interesting how far down the JPX range are suggested. Particularly as Shaft says the Pro`s.

It told me that I need MP53's, and I currently have MP52's. I assume if I give HID the results she will authorise the newer model.

although the site reccomended the jpx irons,I never considered them,it was either the 53s or the mx300s,I decided on the 300s mainly because they felt a bit more foregiving, but Imanaged to buy a brand new 53 6 iron and once I got used to it I could hit it really well, putting it simply,I'm a Mizzy tart.

I went to see a mizuno fitter on Saturday , and basically he was just handing me all the clubs wasnt bothered what handicap i was , i guess its just a guide ...... more importantly he was talking about when i decided which club was right for me then he would fit the correct shaft !
just for the record i hit the mp59 mp 53 jpx800 pro

hmmmm looks like im going to have to drop a few more shots until i get a set of mp 53's

when i got fitted for my mp60's they were pushing me towards the mp32 blades,
i didn't have a handicap at the time!
not sure how that would fit into mizuno's recommendation?

must have been overstocked or something
