Mizuno Irons

I've only owned two sets of irons... Mizzy MX950 game improvements and then after a few years went and splashed out on custom fit MP59's... I tried TM, Titleist, Callaway... Just something about the Mizuno irons I like. Wouldn't touch the woods...

I don't get it.

Not just you Philly, but a few folk on this thread have commented on not liking the woods.

I have the MP Titanium fairway woods and find them miles better then my previous TM (Superfast) fairway woods.

Same with the 630 driver. That was absolutely different class to my R9 Driver.

What is it folk don't like

Those MX950's were a nice set. Progressive so that they were more blady with the shorter irons and cavity with the longer ones. they also had a 4 and 3 hybrid. They dont make that type of set now.

I'm interested in why you "wouldnt touch the woods?

Like Gaz, i've had TM woods, cobra and Dunlop;) and the Mizuno are as good if not better than any i've tried as well.

so what so bad about their woods?

I have the MP53's and agree that they are a very nice club but they are not a patch on the i20's. The Pings are without doubt the better club and I won't be going back to the Mizzy's anytime soon.

what if there was a GM comp, with a full mizuno fitting, the works, bag, putter, woods, irons, would you change then?;)

You have to say that for your sponsors sake though, eh John??? :ears:

lol I like your style mate, even if you offered me a whole new bag of Mizuno gear free I would stick with the Pings. They are simply fantastic to hit, bit of forgivness but very workable too.
You should give them a try one day, may convert you :D

I've had a go of a 9 iron and it was ok, but it didn't feel as nice as my current irons and wasn't any longer distance wise.

and as Luke said in the Empire Strikes Back.... " you will never turn me to the dark side" ;)

When I was going through deciding on the woods, I tried out the Mizuno's and just really didn't get on with them, nor the hybrids. I suppose its personal preference.. But to be fair I can't hit anything at the moment, so the Mizzys woods might be ok for me!

Well, if the '53's need a home...........................

Im rubbing my hands at the prospect of some matchplay with a little wager on the side in the new year... :whoo:

You have no chance of playing me for money at the moment! Haven't played much this winter, too wet and busy with work.. Seem to have lost the feel of the club and swing.. Grips a bit wonky too...
