don't believe that for a moment, though mizuno do say they custom fit there clubs differently to other manufacturers.

Mizuno clubs are the ones i have my eye on for my next set as there factory is about a mile from my house and i can get fitted there and i have never heard any bad comments on there irons, just don't think there name is as fashionable name as callaway, ping, nike or taylor made.

Geronimo, let me know how you get on quite fancy the new driver.

Sorry it is there irons i will be getting, thought about the mx 950 set as i am using hybrids so don't see the need for 3 and 4 irons when i would be using hybrids, but i like the look of the taylor made burner hybrids(have not tried them yet though).

So i will just get the ones that the pro recommends, but must admit i have heard there drivers are a bit behind other makes, but this will be down to personal performance.

I've just bought a set of MX17's on sale. I'm 6ft 3" and I hit them far better than my previous irons. I bought them off the shelf and find them very nice indeed, much better than my previous set!!

I have heard from a reliable source that standard Mizuno irons tend to be a wee bit flatter than "average"

Just had a quick look myself and the lie angle is indeed 1.5 degrees flatter in comparison to most brands. this is based on a 6 iron!

Not sure if it makes a difference but my brother in law is 6ft1 and plays with standard lentgh shafts. when he bought them he was only 5ft9 and they were ok. Now he is struggling with them and his pro said anyone over 6ft1 would probably benefit from longer than standard lentgh shafts.

When i was custom fitted for my callaway x20's the staff said standard lentgh shafts are fine for people upto 6ft, anythin over and you would probably need them extending.

So what am tryin to say (eventually) is if he is 6ft standard shafts should be no problem. (providing Mizuno standard shafts are same lentgh as all other 'standard' shafts.

stevelockie,

They are indeed just a shade flatter than other makes. I was fitted for MP30s a few years ago and compared to the current spects my clubs in standard spec were slightly flatter again ! ( I just checked the glossy brochure from 2004, which I still have, sad realy I know!) There were even differences between some of the other mizuno models at that time.

At 6'2" I had 1/2" added to the shafts and I can't remember if they were bent upright or not, but, they work so that's good enough for me.

dabbled with a set of LTIIs last year and they were more upright than standard spec of my irons.

Back using the MP30s

your height has got bugger all to do with it. its your address and impact position providing your posture is sound. a 6ft 2 bloke might have 3ft2 long arms and the next 6ft 2 bloke might have2ft 11 arms etc... so there obviously going to want different fitting.
Custom fitting is totally individual In all cases.

Guys, I'm not sure it's all to do with height. Isn't it more to do with arm length. I.e if you are tall but have very long arms, standard length might be okay.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?????!!!!!

The standard length mizuno's are about the same as titleist, callaway, taylor made. they aint any shorter. but being 6ft you may need longer clubs, it all depends how you bring the club thru at impact. easy way to check is hav a look at your divots, if its deeper at the toe end you'll need upright clubs and vice versa but only custom fit will tell you by how many degrees.

MVP & Frasting are absolutely right, height has bugger all to do with it.

It's the distance from your wrists to the ground that's the key factor in whether longer shafts are required.
