Browsing their website and see they are offering "County" membership for anybody that lives over 15 miles away from the club for £599.00 per annum with waived joining fee. I was a member there for over 11 years before I went through a divorce and had to move away from the area. I loved the course and had a great time there. According to the blurb, County membership offers "unlimited" golf and the opportunity to play in all competitions and club matches (which I used to love doing when I was there before). You can also book tee times at week-ends rather than take your chances turning up on a Sunday and be pulled up for teeing off 5 minutes before noon as I was at Highwoods despite the course being completely clear. I hated Highwoods because of that. I am just waiting for an information pack to be sent through to me, but if "unlimited golf" means just that, then I am likely to pull the trigger and re-join. If you haven't played Crowborough Beacon before you have missed a real treat. If you have played there before, you can understand why I am a little excited at the thought of re-joining. It's one of the best clubs in the area.... http://www.cbgc.co.uk/

I've not played it but it's a good track as far as I understand, so, as Phil said, you would be mad not to if everything is as advertised

Good luck with that one Smiffy!

I am going to give them a call today Chris to confirm the "unlimited" golf bit. If it really is "unlimited" them I'm an almost definite runner. They hold a big Stableford competition every Wednesday where you just turn up and put your name on the sheet, never know who you are going to play with. It used to be very well supported (normally about 60 players in 3 divisions) and it was a great way to meet new members. And guess who gets Wednesdays off of work!!

I think I still hold the right to blackball prospective members even as a mere 'flexible member' myself...!

Do you ever play in the "Rabbits" Jezz??? I used to love playing in that every week, especially when they have the Rabbit suppers. Bill Burns Begg used to run it, don't know if he is still around??? It was a long time ago.

I hope your driving has improved since your last visit

If you do join, can I be your first guest? I loved the course last time I played it (thanks gm), but didn't really see the front nine as visibility was about 50 yards.

Sounds like a No-Brainer Smiffy.

Wish a good track like Crowborough was doing a deal like that around here - I'm paying £550 for 5-day at an ok course.

Hope there's no catches - apart from maybe having to play with Jezz!!

Will the fact your were a member before, and they know you not be a problem getting in Rob ? Looks like a lovely course, hour and a half from my place, so can I be a guest as well ?

He's hoping all the people he knew before have all now left.
And if he can get signed up before Jezz intervenes, he should be ok. (As long as he does it over the phone and puts on a posh voice)

I would join if it wasn't an hours drive from my house - lovely course and one I always look forward to playing. You know it makes sense.....

Cheap mate... £1000 for 5-day at my gaff :(

Crowborough might be a little too far for me Rob, how long does it take you to get there?

Do it !! I would join like a shot if it was close to me. Of all the courses I played last year it is the one that stayed with me the most. I didn't play especially well but I loved the feel of the place and the quirkiness of the course.
