This is the first year I have been able to drive in the middle of the golf season, I was hoping to get to a few mens events as I should hopefully meet any handicap limits this season. Im already in the ballot for the NI amateur, and going to the Bushmills event. But I was looking for some courses closer to home...Motherwell...that you guys could reccommend? (preferably not too steep in terms of entry!)

Get onto the Scottish Golf Union site and click on Golf Central, it lists all Open competitions on there.

My Club (Cathcart Castle) in Glasgow's south side is hosting our Parlane McFarlane Trophy, 36 Holer on the 31st May. you can download an entry form on the website http//www.cathcartcastle.com or phone the secretary on 0141 638 9449 and he'll put you in. The handicap limit is 6 so you'll get in comfortably

I use the SGU website and gives you all the opens and you can download the application form as well. I'm playing in the Bushmills as well first time for me but my mates says the courses are spot so is the craic so all good.

gutter would have loved to play the 2 rounder at Cathcart....but thats the last day of my football season and weve a chance of winning the league!!

I have had to re-schedule my double tie for Sunday 31st or I would also have entered Cathcart, although I generally do not like courses that start with a par 3!
