There have been a few posts that have brought up great debates about a players greatness.

I can remember watching the masters in 2005 when tiger chipped in from the side of 16 and it was an epic moment in terms of i realised how much vision he had to do that. which gave me enthusiasm to experiment different shots the next time i played.

Which moments have stood out for you watching golf from any era or anyone, whether it be one of your mates a pro from the telly or your local pro???

Sad, but watching IM02's short game round Goswick. Never the same club twice, high, low, running, checking, etc. Git. Right got on my nerves, and he was on my side.

Other than that, my mate Matt's flop shot to 2 ft out of 5 foot deep rough, never seen anything like it. I could only see his head. We were playing greensomes. I was still in shock, so I missed the putt. By miles.

There are quite a few for me; Woosnam thumping his drive over the bunkers on 18 when he won The Masters in '91, Seve almost chipping in when he won The Open in '88, Greg Normans final round in The Open in '93 was fantastic, Fred Couples chipping from the bank in front of 12 when he won The Masters in '92. But i think my most memorable moment is Faldo pitching and then holing the putt in The Ryder Cup in '95, hitting that shot under such intense pressure and thus helping the team win was incredible. I'm not much of a Faldo fan but its the shot that sticks in my memory.

But if Tom Watson had won The Open last year, that would have won................

Possibly my most memorable Moment was Bernhard Langer missing that putt at the Ryder Cup and the look of sheer anguish and despair on the normally calm straight face of the German.

Murph....your needing to get out more if that's as memorable as it gets.

Faldo's relentless running down of Norman at the Masters. The only golf tournament Mrs Mog has ever watched. Gripping stuff, real car crash tv. Very reminisent of the Wimbldon final, Ivanisovic, 2 sets to love up v Agassi, and then it went wrong, oh so wrong. And you could see it coming. Nooooo!

Yep and I reckon only he could have done what he did the week after that miss.

I know Dodger, but I was hung over, playing like a ***, and Jeez he got on my nerves. Luckily he had 2 (or more?) shots in a bunker, which restored normality.

For me nothing touches Lyle's magnificent bunker shot on 18 and subsequent win at the Masters 88.

Shame he behaved like a loser at the Birkdale Open recently.

Faldo grinding Norman down at Augusta
Harrington's wood at the Open
Westwood final day performance in Dubai
Any European Ryder Cup win
Seve holing that putt and punching the air at St Andrews
Rocca holing through the valley of sin
Lyle out of the 18th bunker at Augusta

Mine is Tigers chip in at the 2005 Masters, seeing it slowly trickle towards the hole, and then the advertisers dream moment, with the Nike logo in full view for a split second just before dropping in........priceless.

Golfmmad.

Following Jack Nicklaus up the 18th at St Andrews in 2005 at his last Open, cant get any better IMO.

Great call....I was in the stand and I could feel myself starting to get the quiverry lip but thought ''na na I am a real man,I aint greeting''.....caught site of the 60 year old man sat next to be blubbing away and that was me off!! :D

Superb and he had the cheek to finish with a birdie 3 as well!

Imagination...thats whats required Murph, maybe a bunker lesson from our resident "Gary Player"/A Team coach.

Has to be Van der Velde trousers rolled up standing in the Barry Burn.Holed a gutsy putt for a 7 to make the play-off only for Paul Lawrie to triumph.

Clarks performance at the '06 Ryder Cup, especially drive off the first opening day.

Mickelson and Woods going toe to toe, front 9 on the last day of the 09 Masters.

Agree with TRS30 about Clarkes Ryder Cup drive on the first in 2006.
A few of my other favourites:
Harringtons 5 wood on 17 in Birkdale.
Nicklaus masters victory in 1986.
Sergios shot from the tree stump at Medinah (USPGA)
Tigers first Master victory in 97.
