I have a membership back at home, but i am currently at university in Bristol, and at the weekend i played at thornbury golf club, lovely course. Is there anything from stopping me from being a member there too??? i can be a member at more than 1 course cant i???????

thanks

You can join as many clubs as you like but you normally have to nominate just one as your "home" club. This is where your handicap is held and maintained.

ah right, thank you, i really like the course and its 374 for the year, and i would be able to play in many comps down here too, where as at home i dont play in that many at all

Yes I'm pretty sure that you can play comps at other courses that you are a member of. I presume that your handicap at the "home" course is used but I'm not sure if or how any adjustments to your handicap are made in this case. Perhaps your "away" course sends completed cards back to your "home" course. Not sure about that though.

Hello mate.

I've just joined Thornbury this year, you're in for a treat once the weather gets better, the course is usually in good nick in the summer months.

I'll be down there most weekends and a day or two during the evening on weekdays once the clocks go forward, so if you fancy a round, let me know.

Which uni are you at? UWE or UofB? I played American Football for the Bristol Aztecs and have loads of friends from both Universities, you probably don't know any of them, but you never know!

If your h/c is maintaned at your home club would you still not have to complete the obligitory 3/4 qualifying rounds per year at your home club to maintain that h/c?

May not be a problem for you mind....

I don't think you would matter. You need to have >3 qualifying scores to prevent your handicap becoming inactive. I don't think there is any stipulation that they have to be at your home club. Away scores are just added into your computer record by the home club. The Central Database of Handicaps run by the EGU is supposed to automate this providing the clubs upload and create away players properly.
