Membership at Hindhead Golf Club

Youngster? Thanks Richard, but I don't feel that young.

I went up there and played 9 holes to see what the story is and I am impressed. The greens were tremendous, course (first 9 at least) was a nice layout with some challenging holes. Awesome views, people seemed friendly enough, but I guess I wont really know without joining? Decent practise facilities, from what I saw I couldn't fault it.
Mate of mine that joined last year loves it, so I think you should get an application form in George. Best days for me to play as a guest are Wednesdays.

It seems like I don't need to worry about members being friendly, if I join there will be a fair few people wanting to play there with me

typical....join a nice club and suddenly everyone wants to be your mate :ears:

Cool.

Drive4show, are you a member at Hayling? I have heard good things about that course as well. Would definitely like to play that at some point.

Yeah it's my 2nd club, home club is Broadstone. Welcome to come down for a game anytime

Go for it......... and then invite us to visit.

Great to see so much local interest... HH is about 25 mins down the A3 for me... so look forward to the invite.. <<nudge, nudge, wink, wink>>

Hindhead is nice and all the members I have met have been very friendly.

Liphook is probably a better course and Hankley is much better than both of them in my view. All of them and Backmoor too would be excellent clubs to be a member of.

If I was making the choice, I would go for Hankley. I know several members there and they are great people. And you can get in at the moment, I know for a fact. It is the best course and the food is brilliant. Very friendly club with first class service from the staff too plus they usually have Hogs Back Tea on! As do Hindhead by the way.....

Was looking at the Hindhead website, and came across the HBDL section.. Have only played Guildford GC on that list. I found it too hilly for my liking (or fitness level). How is the Army one. It is about 10 mins drive for me, but never played there.

Th cost of your first year membership including joining fees, of £5,800 might put a few off Hankley.

I still don't understand why Hankley and Liphook close the Clubhouse at 7.00 pm in the summer. I am not impressed to be told to change in the car park, and not be able to get a beer, especially a Hogs Back one, after a round. My place stays open until at least half an hour after it gets dark, and longer if we are still drinking. That's more my idea of a members Club. Oh and by the way Snelly our young lady who runs the bar is a stunner.

Yes it is a bit steep but I think you can spread the joining fee across the first three years which makes it slightly more bearable.

Great to hear you are being looked after properly too!

It would be nice to come down for a round Richard. I am in pretty good golfing form and was in the team that won the Sussex Rugby Clubs Golf Championship yesterday. Plus, took the money the day before at Gog Magog which is a very nice course near Cambridge.

Let me know if you fancy a knock, perhaps after work one evening even with the long days at present?

I think the Army is a great course! always in very good condition and the greens are usually lightning. Well worth a trip!

Actually Just looked up Army GC.. not the one that I thought it was. Mistook it for something I thought was in Brookwood. #MyBad.
My memory is starting to play up - My real name is Richart..

Who is this? What are you talking about?

Can honestly say it's an absolute privilege to be a member at Hindhead. Feels great every time you step onto the first tee. Everybody is very friendly, plenty of competitive golf or social depending on what you want. Certainly some very good courses in this area but Hindhead is up there with the best of them. Greens are the best around and the views are second to none. The course is the real star of the show. Hankley IMHO is overrated, still very good but give me Hindhead any day Not that I'm biased or anything! :)
