McIlroy story breaking on Twitter

The Belfast Telegraph piece is long on hyperbole but short on content or examples. Their postured outrage at the way they feel he's been handled by ISM is just silly. Anyone would think they'd kept him chained up in the yard the way that report read.

He changes his mind a couple of times about playing the PGA tour in the US and it's suddenly their total failure to create a coherent strategy that's to blame? Cobblers. He's a grown up and takes responsibility for his choices in life the same as anyone else. They make out that being 22 makes him some feeble-minded innocent who needs his hand holding.

I'm also surprised how casually people seem to imply a causal link between players' choice of agents and their victories. G-Mac changes agent and pretty soon after wins the US Open... that is proof of NOTHING! Does who books his flight tickets really make a difference to his ability to hole putts in the US Open?

Yes there is value in feeling happy and settled in life off the course, but i really think it's being over-played in these stories. All golfers at that top level live wonderful, privileged lives, whoever represents them.

The more I hear of McIlroy the more unsure I become. With Chadler stating he doesn't listen, his hitting the club into the tree stump and blow-up in the Masters, all suggest a bit of young arrogance and spunk. Just what you need in a top golfer who is going to win Majors. I do think the US Tour is the place to play if Majors are your goal which for me is why Westy and Monty have come up dry.
Too many top dogs in one house isn't going to work is it.
I reckon next year is Westys last chance.

I think Titleist know a good thing when they see one and will fight to keep him as one of their top tour players. He currently uses all titleist clubs and balls and I dont think he would change everything to chase a few extra quid.

Whilst I agree with you Brendy. Money has a nasty habbit of clouding people views.

Especially if Nike offer £££££££££££££££

personally, I cant see how the move would benefit him, as stated he is titleist through the bag, so to change all clubs, balls, even his shoes, gloves and clothing? would have to be a huge move, and one that had been considered for some time. his choice I guess, but madness and needless in my opinion.

Another thing is he has played titleist since he was knee high there is a picture of him in rosapenna competing in the scratch cup when he was 14 or 15 and it was all titleist then.

Cant see Mcilroy switch from Titleist, he is their top man and I heard on good authority he was Titleist Europes top paid player to use their equipment. He is looked after very well.
