McIlroy story breaking on Twitter

I dont blame him. ISM dont have a huge presence in the US so, it makes sense for him to go to a different stable with more US players. It will help given one of them all ready in that stable is GMAC. I think he's also buying a house in the same area as him aswell.

As for switching to Nike .... with a swing like his, he could hit it 300 yards with a coke can tied to the end of a stick. I can't blame him. I'd be surprised if Titleist didnt put up a fight though.

I think that both of these moves are unnecessary, but I'm not gonna criticise Rory because there his decisions and just because I think there unnecessary doesn't mean there bad moves :) I agree with the point that Nike do a he'll of a lot of r and d, they do, and they do now make sone good sticks, also everyone is forgetting that a certain Mr Woods changed from Titleist to Nike and he didn't fair too badly :D and that was at a time when Nike clubs were nowhere near as good as they are now

I think its an interesting move and pretty much shows Rory sees the US as home (for a few years at least) and that Nike clearly want him to be the new face of the brand post Woods. No doubt he'll be pretty good at that as he is young, pretty universally liked over there and a big lure for the youngsters playing.

To be fair I thought Chubby was pretty good with all his clients and even when there was talk of th Chubby Slam he was quick to point out a number of other clients who he said were doing well etc. Clearly its a cash thing as these pros all live pampered lives and have 1st class everything so its not a case of one agency providing anything another wouldn't do. It'll be interesting to see how his schedule pans out and if he'll play any European events

Can't remember how many he has to play but with the majors and WGC events he'll only have to find 4 or 5 more to play in - and that includes Dubai/UAE. PLenty of scope for him to spend a lot of time in the US.

But with so many co-sanctioned (WGC etc) events the liklihood is he may only need a couple. The Open will take care of one, potentially the Irish (good for the sponsors) and maybe one other. Not really great for the Tour to lose its brightest star to the US and the lure of the dollar. I'm sure his new management have his schedule mapped out but think its sad there will be very few opportunities for golf fans to see a home grown major champion on home soil

People seem to think that Nike want McIlroy because he'll appeal to kids...but how many "kids" can afford Nike gear? I seem to remember they had to change their whole strategy after signing Woods because he didn't appeal to people who could afford e.g. £100 shoes and the people he DID appeal to wouldn't spend that sort of money

Mayb all the kids are buying extra large PUMA hats & NIKE need to sell more , maybe it good business to compete with that , not sure what clubs Ricky plays, anyhow its like all big business money talks always has always will

Great read there Mary, very interesting to see that 2 young northern Ireland lads have joined an Irish agency, hopefully it will all work out for Mcilroy, it certainly seems to have done mcdowell no harm.

both interesting reads, I think its a good thing he's moved to hopefully a company that will reign him in a little on the PR front, he was a loose cannon with Chandlers company tweeting ridiculous child like statements in response to anything he didnt like. I see his new company are 'filtering' him so far.
Time will tell if its a good move but he served his apprenticeship with ISM now he's ready to be managed by the big boys.
