Mars Panorama

Ach - that's just the Mojave desert in California! Actually seriously - yes science and technology are fascinating. I subscribe to the BBC Focus (Science, Technology, Future) Magazine - brilliant reading if you are interested in that sort of thing.

agreed the Hubble stuff is outstanding, I liked the Rover image as its what you would see standing on Mars, no need for imagination or 'what if' scenarios as the boffins have done it. If only they could cure cancer now

Does it not freak everyone out a little bit?
Thats a picture of the surface of mars, its unreal! 50 odd years ago we just about landed on the moon. Imagine how far we'll get in another 50 years. WOW! mind blowing.

And don't get me on to the aid we provide to India while they are planning to send a spacecraft to Mars. Seems like we are just paying for our Imperialist past. Anyway - where next in 50yrs - where indeed? Let's see what Voyager 1 turns up in that period now that it has left our Solar System. A little bit of kit built by some blokes in the states is now 11,100,000,000 miles way - now THAT to me is just a bit mindblowing.

I have mixed emotions on the whole Mars thing, in fact the entire space race, yes we need satellites to support the technology we've invented but apart from that there's 30,000 people dying unnecessarily every single day and billions without even the most primitive resources ie: clean water. Taking pictures of Mars' surface won't really fix that.

The Moon!!! if man has been to the moon I'll suck my own, Mars, have a word, total American testicles, in 1962 I had a black and white TV that the tubes blew up on every Christmas day, A wireless, my dad had a ford Anglia (Google it yung 'un's) and we went to the Moon! Let's have a rethink...Mars my arse. Believe that you'll believe owt.
