Mark Roe 525 European Tour Events.........

525 events, probably plenty of different counties, met loads of people, sampled different cultures and had lots of interesting experiences.

Yet he has zero charisma and at best zero personality.

Don't try and bum him up!

He really just gets on your pip with his know all, superior comments and attitude, just because he taught the short game to Lee Westwood once doesn't make him David Leadbetter! Monty is different but being a great player doesn't make you a great commentator and I prefer to have the main commentary done by professional commentators and added comments by the golfer rather than Sky's way of 50 /50. (Peter Alliss excepted - legend!).

I don't care much for a lot of Roe's expert commentary but he is an accomplished player having survived on Tour for so long with 3 Tour wins. His career was also affected by almost 2 years out with hand injuries. In another era he would have had more chances to contend in majors than his total if 2 appearances in all 3 US majors and he could, of course, have won that 2003 Open.

We all have a tendency to decide whether we agree with comments, and if we don't we then question the qualifications of the speaker. But if we do agree, we let it pass.

Ok he wasn't a prolific winner but in excess of 10 years on tour gives him a lot of experience, i'm not a particular fan of his but he's better than some of the others on sky.

Roe isn't as bad as Monty, if he mentions 'his' Ryder Cup Team one more time I will get sick

Butch, Radar, Howell, Andrew C are all far better and none of them come close to Aliss

Sorry but he was very dry and did not come across as a very confident presenter, nice guy but not for TV.

I Disagree but thats what a forum is about!

Anyways i would like to know what you watched with him not coming across as confident? Every time i see him on sky, especially doing bits out on the practice range etc on the europro tour, he's extremely funny and knowledgeable to boot

Sky should extend their football 'fan zone' to golf as well as football and give all us 'experts' a chance of commentating via the red button - would be a scream......;) :D
