Making my wedges heavier

I'm looking to make my wedges heavier, perhaps for want of a better word. Having played a few shots with a mate's wedge the other week, it felt heavier than my wedges and I found it allowed me to make a smoother, more controlled swing on chips and pitches.

My mate is 6'4" so there's a fair chance his clubs are also longer than mine: could that account for the heavier feeling and if so, would adding lead tape to the head of mine be likely to achieve the same effect?
