Macmillan Longest Day Challenge - Blatant Plug

Right I make no apologies for putting a post up again as we a) have had a huge influx of new members - btw you are all very welcome and b) I want to make as much money for a great cause as I can. For those who have already contributed - thank you very much for your donation and comments.

As many of you may be aware there is GM Forum team entered into the Macmillan Longest Day Challenge. It comprises of myself, Hywel Lloyd (aka HTL), Steve Knight (stevo) and Danny Phillips (minty18). We are playing on June 19th at Downshire Golf Course in Wokingham (starting at 4.45am) and it will be a tough but fun day.

I have had personal experience of the great work Macmillan do and they really helped my dad in his last few months and perhaps more importantly gave my mum that extra care (and the odd day off from looking after my dad) that she really needed.

Anyone heard from Minty? I have not seen his name one here for ages.

I am still yet to play more than 1 round! However, I have got a physio coming down to do massages and keep us topped up on green tea and red bull.

I am starting a book on how many balls will be lost during the day.

4 golfers x 72 holes + fatigue + sore feet + sore backs = lots of lost balls

My bet is a total of 17 lost. Any one for higher or lower?

The other question is, is homer going to choke on the last 3 holes on all four rounds, or save it til the last round?

I'm playing well at the moment so I'll confidently predict an opening round close to my new handicap (12) and a second round 3 or 4 over. The two afternoon rounds are really going to be tough and I'll take anything under 90 (gross). I reckon 6 lost balls for me.

Not knowing the course, it is next to impossible to predict how many lost balls there will be. If you played it round Pyrrford, you would loose dozens over 4 rounds. If you played it at Thorney Park, you would struggle to lose one.

Sorry, but the biggest comp of the year is on the 12/13 and 20th. We play a pairs thing, foursomes, greensomes and then 4bbb. Don't think my partner will thank me if I play 4 rounds the day before the final round.

I'm hoping Minty's going to get in touch and has just been away but I know HTL is also getting concerned that we've not heard from him. Stevo is I'm sure down the gym or range as I speak putting the hours in to get round in 4 sub handicap rounds. Maybe not!!!
