Had a fitting today at Leeds Golf Centre (Leadbetter Academy) and went through loads of shafts. Heads in bits now as I previously had been fitted at american golf for an x stiff adila rogue 78g shaft.

The man at Leeds Golf Centre says I should try and use a similar shaft that is in the M2 Fairway wood I have. Tested the Diamana s60 X Stiff and went well but so did the Fujikura Pro 60 Stiff.......

No idea now whats your thoughts guys. Do have to say the Fujikura did give me a few lefts in the hits I did whereas the dispersion with the Diamana was better if the carry was not as good.

Thoughts guys and HELP.......

78g in X is a lot of shaft. Many pros couldn't live with that.

No rule that the 3 wood needs a matching shaft and many Tourbpris use different shafts in their woods, but if you do go that way, usually you would go for a slightly heavier shaft in the 3 wood and a bit heavier again in a hybrid.

As said near enough 80g is a very very heavy shaft in a driver, thats on the heavy side of what most players are using in 3 woods. What were the numbers like of each if you have them?

Surely the key is down to Swing speed. My shaft in my driver is 79g (speeder 757 TS X) but my swing speed is around 122mph.

But up until recently I only had an 85g stiff in my 3 wood and it worked great!

Treat them separately

122mph - that's fast.

On the shaft, there are no set rules for everyone. Try and test the shaft fitted on your course with your ball and normal conditions before committing.

I've got the Aldila Rogue Black 80X in my 5 wood an absolutely love it. I went in blind buying it as a change from a Diamana S+ in stiff (which felt way too whippy), so it may not be optimum for me, but it feels great!

My driver SS is around 110 (nothing on 122! Impressive!) and I don't find it to be too stiff, but I do load pretty hard at the top.
