Lynx Boom Boom 2!!!!

It just need to be tested "cold" against the current crop now to see.

I wonder how many they've sold...

By all accounts its a decent driver, they just shot themselves in the foot with all this heated headcover BS

I had a go of this at the golf show, unheated. I thought it was nice! Bit pricey though. They were up front about it not conforming and i'm sure they said they had licensed the whole gas thing to other manufacturers, although I may have heard that somewhere else.

I have tried it cold as well, the shaft and head combination was really nice but the price for a non adjustable driver is too high, I personally thought it was in the £175 region. Had they sold it at that I would have bought it there and then and been playing this season with it.
I am glad the r and a have passed a ruling on it as well, I would prefer they keep the list up to date and not rely on what common golfers think the rules are... As they normally get it wrong, Tiger being the biggest example recently.

this driver was, and remains, on the conforming driver list published by the R&A/USGA and it is kept up to date

the use of a heated headcover has always been a clear breach of the rules as written in black and white; there was nothing to rule on in that sense. whatever ruling has been given has not been published, and there is no new Equipement notice. Lynx's argument at the time (5 months ago) seemed to be based on the issue of a huge investment in marketing, inc TV, that was about to kick off.

Lynx previously had the statement that the club 'conformed to the R&A rules' on it's product web page but have subsequently removed that (although it does!) but they haven't made any reference to the head cover issue there yet - despite other updates - and still list the Lithium battery powered head cover a feature of the club.

and Tiger's recent example is completely the opposite - he immediately understood and agreed he had breached the rules by his action in complete contrast to Lynx.

The point I was making is it is better for those who make the rules to confirm what is acceptable and what rule it has failed on. Tiger did accept his ruling, but that is irrelevant to the argument I am putting across, I am saying that even the world no. 1 did not apply the rule or understand the rule properly until he was told by the referees ... Hence me saying I am glad the r and a have made it clear about this driver. I personally would listen to them than some one else who thinks they understand the rules.
How Lynx conducted themselves is their business and how it has affected their future will be the judge, I don't care to debate this topic.
I will just say this is a very good driver with a proper shaft ... Just it needs to be priced in the right bracket!

Indeed the driver has always conformed, but the CEO spent a while in a thread telling us that the heated head cover would be fine and have no issues with the R&A

clearly I am not explaining my point very well; sorry.

I will try one more time.

What is it that the average golfer has access to today, that they didn't have access to last October, that constitutes the R&A making anything clear?

14-3/13.5 already exists and includes the statement "Use of a ball that has been purposely warmed during a stipulated round with an artificial device constitutes a breach of Rule 14-3. " in the context of equipment and artificial devices. The ball is equipment, the club is equipment, therefore the use of a club that has been purposely warmed during a stipulated round with an artificial device constitutes a breach of Rule 14-3 according to the existing rule 14-3/13.5

The Pro at my golf course uses this driver, he stocks the Nike covert Titleist 913 and MD drivers but chooses to use the Lynx. He loves it!! Must be a good piece of kit. He hasn't bother with the heated head cover tho.
