So, lets say hypothetically that Santa was going to buy me a shiny new set of irons for Christmas, what should I be looking at?

To narrow it down a bit, I currently play Ping S59s and I don't like fat ugly clubs with thick top lines. I'd like to say I could use an ugly club if it benefitted my game but in all honesty, I don't think I could. There has to be a balance between performance and looks. The Titleist 712 MB is a great example of what I want in the looks department.

So for those of you who keep up to speed with what's hot and what's not, can anyone give any suggestions that you think might satisfy my vanity and ability in equal measures?

Cheers

No timescales Bob, and it might not happen anyway. If I do change I'd like to do it well before the season starts though so I can work on my yardages. All suggestions welcome

Santa bought me a set of Titleist AP2's last year and that was a most acceptable present! They are to be recommended

S56 is a beautiful looking bat.

I'm waiting on the i20 range.

S56 are beautiful looking for sure, also Mizuno MP53 and Callaway Razr X Forged new offering although it has some strange shapes in the back, hits really nicely! All thin top lines. Maybe MP59s though they offer a little less help on misshits than the 53s.

Hmm what else is nice out there in the GI/Better player crossover... Nike VR combo if you like your clubs made by a training shoe company. Ping Anser irons if you have become a millionaire since I last saw you. Taylor Made TP MC, Titleist AP2.

Thats all I can think of...

Pop along to Chessington and get fitted for Razr X Tour like mine. They're not as chunky as you might think.
And if you want something a bit "finer" then try the Razr X Forged
