Luke Donald's driver

A lot of player contracts these days are purely for the irons and maybe a fairway wood or wedge. Most drivers and putters are too personal and to be fair Mizzy have hardly set the world alight with their driver range

He is contracted to play their irons, fairways and use their bags, he chooses his own driver and putter. No one would sign to use their drivers.

I had a mizzy mx560 it was awesome it had a grafalloy prolaunch blue shaft, loved it. Traded it for a mp600, that was truly awfull. If I could get another mx560 with the grafalloy shaft i'd snap someones hand off for it, but I've never been able to track another one down.

I'm not saying their woods aren't good but they never seem to push that much R&D into them compared with the other parts of their club design which is probably why they don't have many tour players using them. To be honest I don't know what the take up is on the Asian tour but I guess it still wouldn't be the number 1 brand in use (or even #2)

The reason that mizuno don't have a lot of players on club contracts is cash. Mizuno don't and are not willing to pay the same amount of money to players as the likes of callaway or tm. Now I am a bit of a mizuno pervert with irons and I love my mp001 3 wood and mp630 driver. As for noone hitting their woods I'm pretty sure chris wood switched to an mp630 fast track driver last year.

Yes Chris Wood is using the MP630 fastrack.

A lot of the pros have a selected club deals for instance Just irons bag hat etc. Some Irons, wedges, bag, hat etc.

Paddy uses any driver that will work at the moment, poss using a TM driver at the moment and was using and old TM burner 3/ 5 woods.

Luke did dabble with the MP600 when it came out but then the TM r9 came out and everman and his dog switched to that. I bet he gets money out of Tm for using it as well.

As well as the deals mentioned above, companies often pay pros a one off amount to tee up with there club.

For example if TaylorMade want to top the Darrel survey for a particular category like drivers, they will make a one off payment of $1000 to every non contracted pro who uses their driver on the Thursday when the survey is done.

Same applies to Cleveland with wedges and Scotty Cameron with putters.

If I worked for Taylor Made I wouldn't be happy at him putting a rival's headcover on my product. If I'm paying him to use a product, he can advertise it too.

He probably isn't getting paid to use the R11, probably doesn't pay for it, but I would imagine there is no contract for the driver!
