Luke Donald

I just read that Harrington shot a 69 today which (after a bad start) included 7 birdies in 12 holes. Yesterday he needed 3 birdies just to make the cut and got them - that is the measure of the man, he keeps going no matter what. Casey on the other hand needed a decent score to win $10,000,000 and couldn't produce the goods, what more motivation does Casey need?

Isn't Casey becoming reknowned as a collapser(sp?)?

I hope Luke Donald puts in a decent round today, would be amazing to see him win the Fed-Ex.

I could watch Luke Donald play golf all day, he really makes it looks so easy.
really deserving of a captains pick and I am sure every team member would like to play alongside him.

Casey is a fine player and has a superb matchplay record, why he was not picked we will never know.
I know I would have taken Justin Rose. Could it be if Padraigs partner hits trouble will Padraigs great scammble ability come into its own.

Come on Donald, get yourself that MEGA pay CHEQUE

I think its interesting to listen to Padraig in interviews this week saying he is going to go out of his way to help the newbies in the team rather than wait to be asked. It sounds to me as though he knows he won't be in every session and so is doing his "unofficial" VC role and getting the team going. Personally I think he'll miss both foursomes sessions and play the rest.

Donald is playing well and looks to have the game to win every week but is lacking something to push him over the edge to beome a major winner.

On the RC picks Paddy won more world ranking points than Casey over the qualifying period. So if Paddy had a poor year than so did Casey or is Paddy being judge under different criteria.?

Due to injury Casey had less time to accumulate points but what has points got to do with anything?

They had to be picks and Monty decided to go with a guy who aint playing great and has a shoddy RC record and leave out a guy who has been playing great, has a good RC record and a great matchplay record in general....that's the bit I cannot understand but here's hoping the Mick can show us why he has been picked over him next week.

Well seems the leading two felt the pressure today:

1 Furyk 70 -8
2 Donald 71 -7
2 Goosen 66 -7
4 Ogilvy 72 -5
5 Casey 69 -4
5 Na 69 -4
7 Hoffman 69 -3
8 Watney 63 -2
9 Day 71 -1
9 Mickelson 68 -1

Surely Paddy is a paddy and not a mick!
By the by, I hope europe win, no matter who wins the points.
Donald is still very much in the hunt for the tour champ in the states, so lets see if he can pinch it from Furyk :)

Seriously give harrington some respect! He had a bad ryder cup 2 years ago but as he said he was on a downward spiral coming off winning two majors. I think you'll see paddy playing very well at celctic manor.

Homer I thinks it has more to do with lack of leadership in the last ryder cup, I think it was a major factor in his performance and this RC he will play to his best.

Apart from the RC I would like to see a pro comp in a two man scramble for charity.

Casey was not picked for a couple of reasons. Firstly as Justone says, h's becoming a choker and even the US press are now acknowledging that he's become a gas bag who can't close it out.

Also if the rumours are correct Casey is not widely liked by his fellow pros. He also nearly walked out on the team at the last Ryder Cup, I wouldn't take the chance of disrupting the harmony of the rest of the team for one prima donna who when it came down to the wire couldn't be relied upon to produce the goods!
