In the current climate its easy to forget your pro in effort to get the best price possible. After much thought I decided I needed my grips changing as I've been struggling of late with grip issues when hands are damp through sweat or rain.

So once i bit the bullet and made the decision i was faced with 2 further decisions, regrip myself, at the cost of about £50-£55 for the grips, solvent and tape, or put them into a shop.

Now as i really wanted them back for this week, i thought it would be ideal to wack them into a shop and have done with, so up comes google and the 3 local pro shops were called,

Grips wanted 10 x Multi compound golf pride with 1 extra layer of tape.

Local # 1 - Very busy cant be done until next week, £80.00
£8.00 Not bad..... but not ready for this weekends 2 day trip

Local # 2 - Very busy, can squeeze you in, £90.00. £9.00 each, getting expensive but will be back in time, can save £35 minimum doing it myself.

Local # 3(AMERICAN GOLF) - Can fit you £10.50 per club, standard price no discount on 10... Your having a laugh, £10.50 for a grip that i can by for £3.50 on ebay... taking the piss.

so after not getting anywhere i noticed the range which i practice and have lessons at is now offering regrips, enquired with the guy i have lessons with " how does £60.00 and pick them up tomorrow lunch time sound "

So £45 cheaper than AG, and only £5.00 more expensive than i can buy the stuff myself , i will be picking up my nice regripped bats this afternoon... then it got better.

Pro - " aren't you away playing this weekend ".....
Me - " yup, whys that ".......
Pro - " how do you fancy swapping your last lesson for a 9 hole playing lesson tomorrow "

Sweet, so not only are my clubs all regriped for the weekend, instead of a 40min lesson on the video bay, ive now got a 9 hole playing lesson.

Remember people, love thy pro,

sounds awesome. I doubt all will offer that kind of service though. If I had a pro like that I would use every time just for convenience and peace of mind

The pro's at my local range charged me £5 (I think, may have been less) to re-grip my irons with grips I'd purchased from eBay.

Jolly nice of them.

My teaching pro is a bit of a knob, but he seems a lonely old sole, so I kind of feel sorry for him :D ;)

If your local pro buys Golf Pride multi compound grips from his/her supplier it will cost them approx. £5 per grip

if im honest bob, i reckon he is doing it cheap as my last lesson is due and i reckon he is hoping im going to book another group session.

The pro at Welton is a diamond, regripped the last set I had for a song and is always available to teach (and teach bloody well) when you need him. Nice guy too, can't say enough about him.
