I've had to start from scratch as I literally gave away or sold every piece of golfing equipment I had gathered over the years. I didnt even keep a tee, glove or ball (had hundreds of them too). So I set out searching the web for 2nd hand stuff but I wanted stuff like I had before, things like mp 57 irons and i15 drivers and such like. Looked like i would have to spend £400 minimum to get fully kitted out again. Far too much in my mind.
Anyhow after having a good think about it I figured that why not try using clubs i'd used back in the day. After all i'd got down to 3 using them 15 odd years ago so why shouldnt I be able to play just as well. Also it would probs be a lot of fun too.
So I now have a set of Titleist dci 962's (3-W) and Callaway steelhead 3 and 5 woods. I have bought back from JT77 a couple of mizuno wedges 52* and 56*. I have 4 new gloves and a dozen z-stars. I never used a driver before but relied on my steelhead 3w so thats what i'm going to do again. I've had to shell out for 10 new multicompound grips and some grip tape and they'll be here on Monday and i'll fit them next week.
All in i've spent £147 muhahahaha. Well happy I can tell you (so is the missus more importantly). But what about a putter I hear some of you more switched on guys saying. Thats the only snag as I've always been a fussy bugger and only used my original 2 ball putter since I bought it 12 years ago. They are too expensive 2nd hand (min £55) so i've got to find an alternative. Do I suck it up and spend £60 on a brand new 'white hot #7' as i'm a mallet type of guy or downgrade my expectations and find a very cheap 2 ball imitation ? Max spend on 2nd hand is £40
Thanks for listening and I hope to catch up with a few of you later in the year.
