I've had to start from scratch as I literally gave away or sold every piece of golfing equipment I had gathered over the years. I didnt even keep a tee, glove or ball (had hundreds of them too). So I set out searching the web for 2nd hand stuff but I wanted stuff like I had before, things like mp 57 irons and i15 drivers and such like. Looked like i would have to spend £400 minimum to get fully kitted out again. Far too much in my mind.

Anyhow after having a good think about it I figured that why not try using clubs i'd used back in the day. After all i'd got down to 3 using them 15 odd years ago so why shouldnt I be able to play just as well. Also it would probs be a lot of fun too.

So I now have a set of Titleist dci 962's (3-W) and Callaway steelhead 3 and 5 woods. I have bought back from JT77 a couple of mizuno wedges 52* and 56*. I have 4 new gloves and a dozen z-stars. I never used a driver before but relied on my steelhead 3w so thats what i'm going to do again. I've had to shell out for 10 new multicompound grips and some grip tape and they'll be here on Monday and i'll fit them next week.

All in i've spent £147 muhahahaha. Well happy I can tell you (so is the missus more importantly). But what about a putter I hear some of you more switched on guys saying. Thats the only snag as I've always been a fussy bugger and only used my original 2 ball putter since I bought it 12 years ago. They are too expensive 2nd hand (min £55) so i've got to find an alternative. Do I suck it up and spend £60 on a brand new 'white hot #7' as i'm a mallet type of guy or downgrade my expectations and find a very cheap 2 ball imitation ? Max spend on 2nd hand is £40

Thanks for listening and I hope to catch up with a few of you later in the year.

For the putter have a look at rife.

I won a 2 bar hybrid accidentally on eBay for super cheap and it's a great putter. Similar alignment to a 2 ball and less than half the price. I used to buy a putter every other week but won't be changing this for a while.

Oh and welcome back :). Enjoy

Great to have you back.

Wish I could help with the putter. But the only thing I can say is don't go for a cheap copy of the two ball. I got one once and it was terrible.

How long has it been since you last swung a club in anger?

Anyway good luck with your comeback, and have fun on the way.

I still owe you a beer, next time we meet up.

Great stuff Jocko , i'd completely forgot about Rife. I've knobbed a bid in for one just now. Thanks

Welcome back to the greatest game JD.

Don't forget about Fisher putters either. Should be able to pick up one for that kind of money.
