Right, my fourball are starting to think hard about the longest day challenge this year, it's been in the pipeline since last year's successful adventure and we're very much looking forward to it. Thought I'd come on here and get some advice & ideas etc. I don't even know if it's doable, if I'm honest.
Whereas last year, and with most people who do this challenge, we did 4 rounds in one day at our own course, The Essex, (well, one of us did, the other 3, myself included, didn't choose to take part but promised we'd do it this year) this year we've added a twist to it which should hopefully be enough to get a fair bit of attention from press in the local areas. We're playing 4 rounds of golf, on 4 different courses in 4 different counties. Yes, you read that right.
There aren't many places in the UK that you can manage this, but with the help of Chartham Park (West Sussex), Lingfield Park (Surrey), Holtye Golf Club (East Sussex) and The Kent & Surrey Golf Club (Kent) we're hoping to pull it off, even if we're having to play the last few holes in pitch black.
As with many things, the fund raising part is the most pain staking, so many people seem to be raising funds for so many different charities nowadays it seems like a day doesn't go by where someone is asking you to sponsor them on Facebook or Twitter or in the street.
So, my question to you guys....how do we make things a bit different. What could we do to really make this a memorable event and raise a decent amount of money for Macmillan?
