TonyN and I are around the London/SE area for the Ping day.
If Ping vs. GM is the Wednesday (7th) is anyone around for a game either Tuesday 6th or Thursday 8th?
We'll be based in Guildford and can travel almost anywhere. Although plans are not set in stone yet (my family are not being very helpful with dates/staying over) we'll be in the vicinity and even I can work out the M25!!!

Any sort of course (Wentworth or 9-hole P&P!!)

Anyone free mid-week? Could be a good 4BBB match. :)

I can possibly do Tuesday 6th - can probably confirm tomorrow. Happy to come down Guildford way as there are some very good tracks around there.

Or we could come to you. I know the Hatch End / Stanmore / Bushey area.

Is Pinner Hill anywhere near you? I don't remember if it was any good but I remember playing well round there last millenium.... :)

Could well be available either day for Surrey/Kent area, but would have to pass if you decide to play on one of the more expensive courses.

I can do 6th. Happy to come down to Guildford - £100 for a fourball is great value. Alternatively we can go somewhere just off the A3 / M25 like Pyrford or West Byfleet.

Pyrford = £99 for a 4-ball, also decent.

W Byfleet looks a bit dear at £160, but I guess I could ask for the winter rate?!

Haven't played any of these 3 courses.

I seem to remember Smiffy (or someone equally knowledgeable ) saying that Pyrford has toooo much water. West Byfleet looks a bit flat - by their own admission it's "easy walking". Guildford may be the best option of the 3.

Alternatively there is always Smiffy's favourite, Tyrells Wood or HTL's ex club, Leatherhead; or lots of others to choose from. :D :D

Pyrford does indeed have a lot of water Rog. Too much for me to be honest. I don't mind the odd lake or stream here and there but I found it to be a bit "Mickey Mouse" in places. A few nice holes but if I went there again it would be with a fishing rod, not a bag of clubs.
You know I like Tyrells Wood, always a nice welcome and some superb holes. 1st is a bit weak, and the 4th (par 3) is a bit non descript, but other than that..top notch.
Not played Guildford, but having looked at the website I would rather play there than Pyrford. Looks reasonable enough and the Pro looks like he's got a sense of humour going by the hole descriptions on his course guide.
Shame I can't make it. Impossible for me to get another day off. But if I could, it would be Tyrells Wood followed by Guildford for me. Forget Leatherhead. That will be like a quagmire at the moment....

So Tyrells Wood or Guildford it is then. I am happy with either - will go with whoever is brave enough to make the final decision!

I'm happy to go with anything, I guess once the final plans are in place, it'll be easy enough. Tuesday look like the front-runner.
I tried a few old friends in the region and drew a blank. I was half hoping to get on somewhere at "members guest" rate, but £25 for a good 'un is AOK.

I'll finalise ASAP......

Apart from the range trip on the Tuesday (got to really) Tony and I will be free and travel would be fine if it helps anyone else out (time-wise).

Thanks to Pie and Leftie....

Any room for me?

You can hear the wallets clanking shut from here

I think HTL left with my entire wallet, cards and all!

I can do the 8th if anyone is interested. £100 round Guildford for a 4-ball looks good value.

Can't do the 6th as I'll be resting in an oxygen tent in preparation to whippin' Ping :)

More than welcome to come over to Ascot. Im free on both days. Loads of decent courses to play. Silvermere is close and a very good pay + play. However, im also well up for Tyrells wood.

If we end up as a five we will play as a 2 + 3 ball. Do you fancy coming over to Ascot? Think its about £25 a round. Will try and get HomerJ to come along.
