Links v Parkland

I'd love to play Crowborough Beacon again Smiffy - if only to see what the first few holes look like (low flying cloud when I played there).

Wonder if Jezz wants to challenge a Forum team on his home soil? :) :)

Sorry for the hijack :o

Parklands, every time. Given the choice to play Augusta or the Old Course, I know which one I'd choose! :D

Been to both but only played the Scottish one......it's the only place where the hairs on the back of your neck stand up on the 1st tee...Augusta is magic but St Andrews is SPECIAL.......

Very true i stay 15 minutes from it wouldn't play it apart from 3 holes 1,17 and 18 ,the New Course is much better, but give me Carnoustie or Kingsbarns and i could play them every day , golf heaven. :)

Checked out your link your course looks really good and value for money had a look at your opens its a pity theres no 36 holer as it would have been worth the drive down.

Both my courses are parkland but different in nature as one is sand based, the other has a very peaty/soil base. Have played Hunstanton(the quickest 12+, truest greens ive ever played) and Ganton, although 8 miles inland, both great links courses. Have also played Sherringham, a wonderful clifftop course, not quite a true links. Enjoyed some wonderful days out at both Hollingwell and Woodhall Spa, again both having that parkland/links soil and feel to them. Which one do i prefer, all of them if i`m honest. They all require total consentration or they will bite, especially Woodhall, on windy days or calm days. We are so spoilt in these islands, so lucky to have such a diversity of golf courses to play. Sorry, can`t/won`t chose.
