Thick line on the ball with a sharpie, place ball on ground with line upright and hit ball. The line on your club face should be upright if the lie is correct

What's the best way of checking if my lie angles need altering if you haven't got one of those board thingys ?

I'm sure your pro will lend you one along with some marking tape.if not draw a black vertical line on some balls and when you hit them you'll leave a line on your iron, if it's vertical then your lie is ok.

dont use a strike board. the board can deflect the club and give inaccurate readings. draw a line on the ball and hit of soft turf
