Let down

Did anyone hear me shouting at 7.15am Saturday morning ,,,was not a happy chappy at all,,,,
There was a Medal comp saturday just gone,,so i looked on the board & there was a 2 ball & 7.20am dad & son then me making a 3 ball ,,,had a round Friday to make sure there names were still there ,yes everything is fine ,,game on,,

Got to the club about 7.05am & guess what ,,there names were rubbed of leaving just my name ,the next to tee off was a 3 ball 50 mins later ,,,no one to mark my card i was gutted

seeing they were dad & son i suppose there names were rubbed of for a good reason but i was still peed off ,,,so i stormed around the front 9 then went home


this was only my second comp & i was wounding if this as happened to you

i think the problem is you pay your entry fee on the day ,,,you should pay when you put your name on the board non refundable

Whether you pay up front or on the day is immaterial. I've been a member of a club where you paid on the day and at my present club where you pay in advance and no-shows happened at both.

I feel for you as it's a rubbish situation to be in but was it not worth hanging around to see if you could fit in with anyone else?

That is the problem when comps are left for people to book their own games. All of ours are drawn and so if you enter in the bookable slots you're guaranteed a game

Oh dear that's very frustrating nearly encountered similar in the Xmas turkey trot was shotgun start am/pm and my partners turned up @ 8 for 12 start! Booked wrong time so cancelled I turned up no one to play with but fortunately someone had chanced it and I got a game. Hope you have better luck next time.

I have been there before (well nearly, I have had my playing partners cancel on me 5 minutes before they are due to turn up normally due to hangovers and over sleeping). When that happens I just head for the clubhouse for breakfast and see who else turns up. If there is no game after an hour I head home or set out for a few holes of practice.

happened to me and my playing partner 3 weeks ago,turned up early had a coffee and a swing in the nets walked to the tee and waited for the others to appear,nothing.Walked to the pro shot to see what had happened and was met by a senior in his slippers telling me they where not playing to-day because they where going to another course for a day out!!!!!!!!!.As a consequence couldn't play in comp but sent a letter to the sec reporting them and ranted at the pro. for not having a stand by pair or not letting us tee off later.
