Or should they be closer?

What the hell is a 3D lesson? I guess it depends on what you want to achieve. If its a major swing change then I'd be looking for a block booking of an hour each and probably every three weeks to four weeks intially. From past experience it's easy to dismantly but takes time and a lot of effort to recnstruct. Personally I think we must have lost a few pieces last winter or the instructions were in French as it's was a long haul at the start of the season. If it's a general tick over for the winter I'd probably go for three x 1 hour and work on specifics. If you are still getting out and playing too (weather permitting) I'd think every 4-6 weeks to allow the change to bed in and use it on the course would be sufficient

I have 3 lessons booked to take over the winter, 2 before xmas and 1 after. Planning 1 range session midweek also.

If I were you Id say 3 over the winter would be fine.

Dont make the mistake of booking loads of lessons, you might end up in a mess by the end.

Like myself you are looking to get to a low handicap dont rush it too much it will happen.

Also you game/swing /ball striking will normally get a little worse after a lesson but then jump forward. 1 step back 2 steps forward kinda thing.

Good luck with the lessons, am not missing those lesson prices from back home.
No doubt you were gald for Cork yesterday.

I assume 3D is on a simulator, avoid those like the plague. Personally I have 30 minute lessons. We identify two changes work on them and then I try to embed them over the nextthree/ four weeks. I'd suggest 4 x 1/2 hr one every 3 weeks.

Presume that's a typo?

1hr = 75

3 x 75 = 225

3 x 1hr = 275

:D

I think 1hr lessons are best, so he more chance to start grooving any changes rather than just giving you a drill to work on.

Having said that, different people learn at different speeds and in different ways.

Maybe go for 1 hour to start with then see what he recommends, as part of his skill should be identifying how each individual is best taught.

I also think once a month is enough for someone who can already play, but again it's each to their own.

Hey Region....i think it might be a typo myself....i just copied and pasted the pricelist but looking back at the site he has the 3 x 1 hrs down at 199 euro also....probably a missprint

I have 1 hour lessons as and when I feel I want. I almost always have a lesson when I feel that I am playing well as I dont want quick fixes when the game is off form. I practice the work after the lesson as much as possible and I write in a note book what the swing is, and rewrite it incorporating any changes we make.

A one hour lesson costs £30

I'm going to read the book "swing factory" this winter to try and get my swing more reliable, on plane etc...
If you really want to improve and you practice already then it suggests that specific faults are in your swing and your swing will need to be learnt again I'd talk to the Pro and find out what he would suggest and see if it suits your plan.
Good Luck and I hope it works out

Is that Butch Harmons standard prices Kid :),jesus thats expensive , i booked 5 lessons for £80 at my club have had 3 of them another 2 to get over the winter. IMO it has been money well spent i'm hitting my irons a lot crisper and scoring much better recently, would give it a go but try to get a cheaper coach ,good luck mate

How often you get the lessons really depends on how much you can practice between them. If you can get down the range 3-4 times a week then once every 3 weeks would make sense.

Also if you make a block booking with him, ask the pro if he'll spare you 10 mins between lessons just to check you are practising what he last taught you correctly. It is so easy to get a lesson and start over doing something which leads to more trouble!

I have never understood why lessons are for 1 hour. Sure nice for the pro, but to me, 15 minutes would be fine. Any longer, and it just gets confusing, or repetitive, depending how much stuff they try to cram in.

I prefer 45 min lessons.
After the initial questions, warm up, and swing analysis, there follows the explaination of the fault, the cure and the practice. The lesson ends with a recap, practice drills and any questions.
Most pupils are surprised how quickly it passes

Flippin hell that's expensive...

I pay 25 euro's a lesson as a member of my club (non members 27.50).

If I were you I would find a pro who gives you a better deal (unless he really is a genius)...

And that is why I have an hour lesson - perhaps I'm slow on the uptake! Half an hour is just too short to make changes and I like to look at 2 or maybe 3 elements of my game each time.

My Pro will always "have a look at a swing" when I am practicing at other times, just as an MOT on my swing for free.

Chris

I'm with you murph. I warm up on my own before the lesson. My pro comes over looks at a few more shots, identifies 1 sometimes 2 issues, talks me through how he would like me to address them. I then hit some more shots trying to incorporate the changes and he gives me feedback on how well in executing it. We recap on the changes at the end, he gives me a couple of drills to try. I do the drills so he confirms I've got it right and he leaves me to it. I practice for 3/4 weeks to try and embed the change, we meet up again and work on something else. 30 minutes is fine for that.
