Lesson Update

Looking better already. But as has been said a shortened backswing will help alot. For me the feeling of stopping at a 3/4 swing actually takes me to a nice full swing.
Shortening slightly is something you can add in on your own without having to wait until a lesson & pay to be told it.
But above all else do what YOU feel comfortable with in regards changes. If you find you pick what you have been shown quickly you could try shortening before the next lesson but if it takes you a while to pick up the first changes it may be best to wait.

Homer.

Why oh why oh why do you do it, time and time again??

You go to a new pro, you pay him good money, you learn something new/different, and then you post your new swing and ask us amateurs (and Bob) for our views and comments.

Either trust your pro, or don't bother with professional help and use the money saved on range sessions trying to implement what is suggested by the forumers. Ffs, don't do both :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I rarely comment on swings as it doesn't pay to get 20 different and many wrong analysis but I wanted to on this HJS. It appears to me that just before contact your looks like it pulls further away from the ball, not much lift of the head but an an attempt to clear yourself .

Apologies if I am wrong

This seems to be missing the one crucial word that would make it understandable?

No-one holds you to ransom to read it or coment. I do trust the guy I'm seeing with and the point I'm trying to get over and you seem impervious too is the fact that after one 30 minute lesson I feel more confident about where the club is during the swing, the contact is better and I have a clearer understanding on where I need to go and what I need to do to move forward. Thanks as always for another positive post from you. I can rely on you to always find the negative in a sea of new enthusiasm but your a whisper in a chorus of positivity. Can't wait for the next constructive and insightful reply

Chris you are spot on but as I explained earlier in the thread it is a reaction to the errors and not a cause. It is on the list of things to sort out but the takeaway is the initial starting point. The rest will follow in time

I like your attitude HJS and I suspect, like me, you actually like having lessons. Maybe neither of us will get low single figures but we will give it our all having a bash

Homer I move my head a lot and this is something my coach wants me to work on ....do you top or thin the ball a lot or is your contact pretty good??
And as Bob asked are you working on contact or direction....

I am not looking at giving tips just wondering if your coach has got you working on the same thing as mine ....ie contact then direction!?

Cheers

I enjoy having lessons and the challenge of making the changes and getting them to work. The contact itself isn't ever an issue and it has been mainly a directional problem because I've been coming in way too shallow and doing way to much with the hands to try and get it square at impact. The new version will eventually let me swing on a steeper path and with a better path both back and through. Shorten it, maintain the spine angle and keep the head from bobbing and I could look like a golfer.

H. As usual, you are seeing negativity where none was intended. Read my post again and you will note that I was fully aware that you had found something with your new coach.

I'm really pleased for you that you have found a coach who, even after one short lesson, has made a positive impact on you and your swing. No bull, I mean that.

A simple comment about how things are already going well and looking forward to progressing with the coach etc, etc, etc would have been great. But when you then post your swing and say
"but I'd appreciate any comments", you are leaving yourself open to every Tom, Dick or Harry to post their views on your swing which must then be in the back of your mind next time you are on the course or range.
You may not have noticed, but I have never commented on anyone's swing on this forum and I would never do so. That is between the golfer, his maker and/or coach.

Oh, and yes, this is an open forum where we all can choose whether we read a post or not and whether we reply or not. If you set yourself up and ask for comments, that is what you will get and you will have to either put up or shut up. Yes, the comments have been positive and peeps (including me) are happy for you but, if it were me, I would not want comments about the new swing that might contradict what I had just been taught.

Still, we are what we are.

Love and peace
;)

Do you not think perhaps he is wanting to show the changes and get some praise on them as comments to help with confidence boosting rather than actually wanting advice comments?

Golf Forums dont work like that.. You get what you ask for.

And sometimes a lot more...

Keep up the lessons and practice. Oh! and flex the right knee ;)

I'm just not getting the whole 'right knee fixation thing'...............???

Do all of us have to look like Rhys Davies?
rhys.jpg..................I don't think so!

I don't understand all this talk of a new dawn homer, both swings look almost identical. Far to much movement but it seems to be the way you swing.

I'll see your new pretenders and raise you a few classics (plus a few noobies ;))
