Met up with my boyhood friend Doug McClelland today, up from Silvermere visiting family. I cheekily asked him if he'd come to the range & look at my swing & suggest any minor changes I should make. He absolutely tore my swing apart & within 15 minutes had me hitting it in a way I've never hit it before. More distance, better flight & superb compression. It feels very, very strange but I know he's right & I must stick at it. His last lesson before me was HRH the Duke of York so I think bragging rights are in order. A lot of what he told me I've been told before, but it was the additional bits that made it work.

I'll have a range session tomorrow & take it out on the course on Thursday in an open 4BBB. Not expecting too much because it feels so strange but you have to start somewhere. Don't know how long it will be before the new swing feels natural, possibly never, but that's a price you have to pay, I guess if, like me, you're not a natural sportsman.
