Leicester City 2016/17

That squad is capable of top 10, I just hope the expectations aren't too high from the fans but especially from the press.

A few quality additions and top 6 would be par I think.

7th-9th, even though they won the League still think players would rather sign for one of the big 4 or LPool or Spurs.

Why not top 3? Will the aging City squad be revamped over the summer, and take on board a new style of management? Will Spurs chase them down? Will Arsenal continue to be the perennial underachievers? Will Van Gaal improve Utd? Will Chelsea's squad continue to be a shadow of what it was last season? Liverpool under Kloop?

I can't see any reason why Leicester, with the added attraction of Champion's League, won't improve a squad that has just won the PL.

Because the other PL teams will give them more respect and stop expecting to simply turn them over, they were lethal on the break, had an average of only 40% possession this season, Kante, Mahrez will be watched and defenses may drop deep to stop Vardy getting in behind.
Not sure they don't see it themselves as a one off.

I agree with the OP Leicester will probably finish around mid-table next season.

1. They probably wont keep all their players, 1-2 might go.
2. Extra games with the CL will put strain on squad and be a distraction.
3. They cant have the same good fortune with injuries next season. Plus some players will probably not reach quite the same level as they did this season.
4. Opponents will learn how to play against them (Arsenal already know how ;))
5. Adding more players will be tricky and choosing the wrong ones could be detrimental to the way Leicester play.

As a Foxes fan I would settle for top 10, plus holding their own in the CL.

This year was a one off I am sure, but they now have chance to become a stable PL side and not a yo yo team, with CONTINUED wise investment in players. Heard Fergie said Steve Walsh, their head scout, is the most important man in the Prem, so lets hope he carries on earning his money, as they will need to strengthen their squad as mentioned above, to deal with injuries and the demands of the CL.

Bring it on!!!!!!!

I think the Prem teams have been showing them respect for over half the season. And no doubt watching them prior to their games with them. The top teams in the Prem are used to scouting missions in Europe, prior to CL matches, and preparing properly.

Leicester's biggest concern will be building up the squad to cover CL. That in itself should make them better than this season.

Because buying loads of players every summer always works, see LPool for answer😃

Shame Arsenal don't now how to play against the teams below them; dropped 6 points to Chelsea, 5 to West Ham, 5 to Southampton, 4 to Liverpool and 4 to Spurs who you've spent the afternoon taking the proverbial out of. Amusing as it is to see Spurs finish 3rd in a 2 horse race, looking at those 24 points dropped and a 10 point gap to the top place I'm not sure I'd be too smug about having beaten Leicester twice.

:ears: We've not had a lot to shout about whats wrong with a bit of harmless banter against our rivals? and Leicester mate was a bit tongue in cheek. Much deserved winners and taught us all a lesson on getting the job done.

I don't think Leicester will give a monkey's about the CL, it's an even bigger circus than the PL so they will just go along for the ride and to make as many friends and as much money as possible.

Finishing as high as they can in the PL will be their goal. Top 10 will be a great result.

If they strengthen their squad, which I expect them to do as their owners aren't shy in splashing the cash if needs be, they did it to win promotion so I expect them to do it to again and build a squad to maintain a constant top half finish and push for Europe and getting to cup finals, they have it in them to be top 8 club comfortably with this foundation along with a few tweaks, if any key players leave and there's not much investment, then normal service will be resumed.

I think it'll be top 8-9 and maybe a shout at Europa league. Can see an early CL exit but not before they give at least one side something to seriously think about. Think they will lose a few players but they'll buy too so can't see the way they play changing. Could be a bet for a domestic cup without the PL distraction

It all depends on who they buy with their 100 MILLION QUID. They spent wisely before. Increase squad. Keep same players they have. Top 4 again.

What a lot of folk don't realise is that Leicester do have some decent back up players, they have strength in depth, just not with household names.

GK - Ben Hamer, Mark Schwarzer will be leaving so possible addition needed here

RB - No decent back up for Simpson, Ritchie De Laet not great, more steady, but I'd be looking to strengthen in this area.

LB - Schlupp can fill in, but we also have 19 year old Ben Chilwell an U21 international with bags of promise.

CB - Behind Morgan and Huth you have Wasilewski (likely to leave as 35) Yohan Benalouane and recent signing Daniel Amartey. Both look excellent palyers.

Mid - Backing up Drinkwater and Kante you have Andy King, Matty James (been out all season with injury) and Gokhan Inler (Swiss captain with 89 caps). Amarty can also play centre mid in a holding role.

Wingers - Albrighten, Mahrez, Schlupp, Damari Gray

Up front - Vardy, Okazaki, Ulloa

Crucial thing for Leicester will be trying to keep hold of their players for next season to carry on the adventure into Europe. Kante or Mahrez would be a massive loss and take some replacing.

From a squad point of view I reckon they need:
- Right back as cover for Simpson
- Potentially another centre mid player
- Another forward to accompany Vardy, in my mind, Okazaki and Ulloa don't quite cut it, ok as back up, but wouldn't get you 15+ goals in a season.
- Would like to see another flying winger come in as well to push the others. Personally it would be a big ask, but Andros Townsend would be ideal!

Top 10 should be the target - say 55 points, but if they can keep any momentum then top 6 I'd be very happy with, plus a few scalps in Europe

Not had a lot to shout about? Halfway through the season you were top of the table, level with Leicester, 4 points clear of Spurs who were fourth. You've dropped one place, dropped 10 points against Leicester and dropped 3 points against Spurs who gained a position over the back half of a season where Chelsea, Man. Utd & Man. City all puked up over themselves and the much promised second coming of Liverpool yet again failed to materialise. Frankly you blew the league big style, and in that position I'd be a little bit circumspect about handing it out in spades towards the Spurs fans, but each to their own.

Jose Mourinho used to get regularly panned for his deflections, usually by Arsenal fans bemoaning his lack of class, yet here we are with Arsenal fans panning Spurs whilst overlooking their annual collapse when their only real contender was a team who'd never been in that position before. That's even more spectacular than Arsenal's normal standards of collapse, yet it's a licence to mock Spurs. Isn't this exactly what Jose used to get slaughtered for…………..?
