Lee W

Christ here we go!!!

He is 20 year old for christ sake,if he wants to lose the head and *** his clubs or have the odd expletive let him get on with it....jesus I can't believe folk get so het up about guys showing a bit of anger!i would hate half the folk on here to play with Screwback.....they'd be walking off after 3 holes! :D

No not 3 it would be 4 holes :D anyway am a changed character.

IMO rory showed immense talent over the last four days and deserved to get a wee bit upset if he wanted to.

Lee westwood deserved the win in the end though.

Westwood was superb, so calm and focused.

McIlroys attidute I don't mind too much because the only person who's game it will affect is his own. I hope he watches it back and realises he was a bit daft or his caddy/parent have a little word.

At the end of the day he is 19/20 years old and is still learning how to be an adult, and in the public eye too.

As others have mentioned his putting is a worry, even if he is only a couple of foot away I don't expect him to knock it in.

That was some trophy Lee got. He could barely lift it!
A good season and with Lee back in the top 4 he should kick on even further next year.
No 4 to outside the top 200 and back to 4 again - that's some comeback.

Last weekend was some very special golf, in fact I think it was better than any of the majors to watch this past season.

I am well chuffed Lee and billy foster won, two fine Yorkshiremen :)

In regards to Rory I think he played his best golf and yes like all golfers has a weakness Rory's is his putting like Tigers driving. I was sad to read him joining the PGA and to hear him say US courses suit his game more than European tracks, as to me its a sign he will move over full time in the next few seasons and fade into journeymen.

Ross Mcgowan was on top form as well and is young and I really hope he makes the Ryder team next season.

congrats to mr westwood - i don't know him so won't call him Lee!

Watched a wee bit of it and i was amazed how different his swing looked compared to the open. The back swing seemed like it was in slow motion compared to a few months ago... so much smoother and a good lesson to anyone on how to swing a club.

Nice one.

Joy to watch and glad he won it in style. Not a bad weekend - Course record, Tournament win and Race to Dubai Title - plus £1.6m :D Despite a few 'moments' on the course, thought Rory was very gracious towards Westwood and no doubt his time will come - shame he's planning to play more in America.
Well done to Ross McGowan as well - he played some super stuff over the 4 days and nice to see someone perhaps a little less known at the top.

I thought Lee Westwood was fantastic the best golf I have seen him play for a while, you really get the feeling he needs to step up and win a major this year, IMO he is one of the few brits/ europeans who could have a go at the US open.
I thought tee to green Mcilroy showed he is the best out there once he sorts his putting he will be unstopable. Fingers crossed they will both win Majors next year.

We'll be expecting you to refer to Mr Woods and Mr Mickelson in the future then... unless you had them over for tea last week?

well, actually, since you mention it.....

Eldrick wasn't too keen on the old caramel wafers and Philip was really annoyed when i gave him a right handed mug to drink out of!

:)

What a fantastic weekend display by all the leaders, seeing how close Westwood was to tears shows how much it means to these guys.

I don't get why everyone thinks McIlory has a putting problem. He had exactly the same amount of putts as Westwood through the week and averaged under 30 putts per round.

Unlike Garcia who has had the putting woes, the majority of putts Rory has missed have still been decent putts. Very rarely are they dribbling at the hole, they are normally too pacy or just plain wrong line. IMO he is possibly a bit too aggresive at the moment, particularly on 4/5 footers and hits putts through the break. If that can be classed as a problem, it is certainly much easier to rectify then a hesitant jabby stoke like Garcia's was.

I think the reason people comment on Rory's putting is he always seeems to knock the ball in close but doesn't make enough of them, his iron play is amazing he hits the most greens of any of the main tour players average 78.1% but he is 66th in 1 putts.

I reckon Rory's a brilliant putter. These tournaments can only be seperated by who makes a few putts on the day. If Westwood was having a bad day then Rory would have won.

#Simples.

Not entirely sure of Rory's scrambling stats (if someone would be so kind) but I reckon he could do with chipping dead a bit more often.

I hate statistics, they prove absolutley bugger all.

Who is the better putter?? Rory or Monty??

According to the stats Monty is by a long way, but he has never got the ball to the hole from outside 3 foot all season!!

The second one is more relevant because he hits so many GIR.

I've just seen another one on there that proves the point!!! GONZO F'DEZ CASTANO

No the stats prove Rory is a poor putter by tour standards as he is 3rd in GIR but 111th in the putting stats.

It does nothing of the sort.

As they are mentioned above, Rory is playing with Castano.......

After 2 good drives Rory hits an iron from 200yds onto the green and is 30foot away. Castano misses the green in the front trap, fluffs his bunker shot on to the fringe, chips close and taps the putt in for bogey.
Rory rolls his 30footer down to the holeside and taps in for his par.

Statistically Castano is the better putter as he has only taken 1 putt against Rory's 2 putts. The stats get even more skewed when players are putting from the fringe or from off the green as these putts don't count towards their stats.
