Leaving battery in boot of car?

Was wondering could it cause damage to the battery for my Motocaddy S1 by leaving it in the car boot?

At present i just put it in car when i'm leaving to go to course. But i was thinking once i charge it up after a round that i'd put it in the boot ready for next time i'm playing so it reduces the chance of forgetting it. But was afriad that leaving battery in boot for up to 4/5 days could cause damage due to change in temps, etc.

Any ideas?

Bashing about against exposed metal bits, sliding around etc is never good for batteries. It even says in the manual to not leave it in the car!

Best to just take it out and put it somewhere safe.

Also think of the extra weight and the effect it will have on the fuel!

No....It will be fine, just make sure it cant bounce around.

My first S1 battery lived in the boot, apart from when it was either being used or charged. It lasted 2.5yrs. My 2nd battery has had a similar existance albeit its now 3.5yrs old. The only thing I do with it when in the boot is secure it.

Connect to a power supply in you car somewhere and charge your battery as you drive.

Boots can become a very hot place in the summer. This could deteriate the cells. I'd avoid it to be honest.

Ya it would be the heat in summer that would worry me, think ill try avoid leaving it for a long period.

I wouldn't have thought it was the best environment but others seem to disagree. I put my go kart batter on charge and leave it in the kitchen out of the way. It stays on trickle charge as recommended by GK and at a constant temperature and seems happy enough
