Well done kiddo on passing your driving test, when is your putting test lol.
Some insurance companies give a discount to young/novice drivers that have a box fitted, I think it keeps track of your speed and some other things  .
Shop around for insurance it can be expensive, maybe add your name to a relatives policy to give you some discount.
If your looking for a car give Smiffy a call , but FFS don't shout at him :ROFLMAO:

The box can put some restrictions on you.
Not all bad .
But one is time ,Cant drive after a certain time . ( don’t know how true this is)
That’s not good if your a shift worker.
So make sure you read all the restrictions carefully.

I remember my driving test when I was sixteen years old.
My dad was a friend of the Registry of Motor Vehicles Officer who administered the driving test.

The guy addressed me by my first name--nickname, actually-- and asked me to drive around the block without hitting anything.
I just barely managed that.

For better or worse, they take this sort of thing much more seriously these days.

Driving laws are state by state. Texting while driving is not legal where I live, thankfully.
Why not just do a voice call, anyway? The cars all have blue tooth now.
I don't have a clue what it (blue tooth) is other than you just talk without handling your phone and the other party responds through your car radio,

Been looking around and being quoted between £950 with box to £1200 without, quite expensive I'm not wanting a tracking box tho,

Depending on where you live and your age, I would say they are pretty good figures for a new driver.
Dont be tempted to piggy back on someones insurance though.

I was thinking that but next year I'd have to start from new again is that correct,
I was all excited and happy until I started looking at cars and insurance and its took the wind right out of my sails got a sore head now with it all

Every claim free year you have gives you no-claims discount for the following year. Don't be tempted by the accelerator policies as not all companies accept the no-claims discount from a reduced time policy.
The policies that have a black box can save you plenty. My brothers duaghter had one when she first passed, and every month where the data sent back was good got her a small refund, which in total added up over the year.
Buy a car that is low insurance group, not too old or not too new. Go for fully comp, as the ins companies will look on you as more careful.:)

Well guys and gals I passed my driving test, first time, I'm over the moon right now, wasnt expecting it to be honest I'm just glad it's done and dusted

Congratulations on the pass. Your test might be done & dusted, but now is when the learning really starts ;)

What's your objection to having a black box?

Son who’s 17 passed in October last year. Have a look at Ticker for insurance, he has a disc that sticks to the window not a box fitted so less to measure you against, it has no restrictions on times etc and he’s £850 for a 1.4 Astra.

Thanks, I'm going to go with comprehensive looking at fiestas 09 and upwards, seems a decent first car iv been advised to go for the diesel engine 1.6 and down, around £2k with £1200 insurance and under 100k miles but I'm still looking around

Thanks mate, I'm just not really wanting to be monitored while driving, without sounding like an american I find it takes some of the freedom away
