I'm currently looking to pass my driving test, and had my first lesson on Friday I can already drive just not to a passing standard, mostly I'm wanting to know about the theory test, how would be the best way to pass that, looking for any advice that could help me do it as quickly as possible
Thanks

My children used the (then) CDs that came with the BSM pack and make sure you read the Highway Code and The Driving Manual. I remember that even with all my experience I could not spot all the hazards in the test so do not worry about getting it 100% right.

My biggest mistake (albeit years ago) was to learn to drive without lessons and became a very proficient driver but not to the requirements required to a driving test. I always remember my instructor commenting to me after I passed his first thoughts were during my first lesson " oh no! Here we go another boy racer" .

Practice.
Plenty of online help and plenty of apps too.
Read the questions carefully.
They'll ask " what should you do here" and give you 4 choices
Next question could be " what should you not do here" and you get the same choices.
Hazard perception test is a video game. Look for developing hazards like a car pulling across you or a bus starting to move out - not some kids walking down the pavement ( until they start to walk out in front of you!)
Click the button once then again a second later.
A scoring window opens in the program. The earlier you click the more points you get.
Sometimes people see the hazards and click fractionally too early. The second click catches the hazard. Don't click more than about 8-10 times per video clip - that can "cheat" you out and you get no points for it.
Do the work, do the practice and you'll get it first time.
Most people who fail simply don't put the effort in.

Yeah, but what do you know? How long have you been driving?

Do you think I'd be better with the app or the DVD pack, I took a mock test I found on line with extremely poor results, I have the highway code book from 2014 but I think I need to get the 19 version, I'll read through it nevertheless,
Thanks for the advice anything else would be welcome

I just re the highway code from cover to cover a few times on the train tbh

The apps now are fantastic , we play around with them at work sometimes to see who has forgotten the most lol

Get a mate to take the test for you?

We had one a few months back. A bloke turned up in his own car, parked up, slapped some L plates on and came in.
Name called out, Licence checked picture didn't match.
Was asked to go into the office to help confirm ID....5 minutes later a Panda car turns up and two Rozzers escort the miscreant to the local nick.
It happens too frequently....

Get a mate to take the test for you?

On the telly recently they were showing how one guy (the correct applicant) got caught. He was using a Bluetooth device to his mate and his mate was giving him the answers.

They have lots of CCTV including overhead ones to observe what is actually happening. This guy was spotted doing something suspicious and then they spotted him putting the device inside the headphones.

I think that's what I'm going to do, just keep going through it, going to start getting what I need today, I'm looking to get the app, and ill get the paper pack too

Or actually learn the laws of the road and be a good driver? 🤣
How does the laws of the road tell you what a catalytic converter does. How do the laws of the road tell you the percentage of fuel saving if you drive at x miles per hour below the national speed limit etc etc. All in the theory test I gather
