I'm sure most of you will know that the GM Forum Nomads are playing in the Macmillan Longest Day Challenge this Friday. Many of you have already given generously and I know these are hard time economically but if there is anyone on the forum that hasn't sponsored us and would like to do so there is still time

I have had personal experience of the great work Macmillan do and they really helped my dad in his last few months and perhaps more importantly gave my mum that extra care (and the odd day off from looking after my dad) that she really needed.

I have a link below if any of you would like to make a donation.

Thank you once again for your time and to those that have supported us to date.

Thats an interesting question. We've lost Minty who was made redundant and only recently started a new job and so couldn't get time off which is fair enough.

Stevo (Steve Knight) is supposed to be our third alongside HTL and me but he's not replied to any PM's or phone texts I've sent him so I guess we'll have to see if he turns up on the day. Poor form if he doesn't make any form of contact and is a no show but I'm always an optimist.

Either way I'm picking HTL up at 3.40am (I'm having to get up at 2.30am) and we are still determined to go ahead and complete the challenge. First tee off is at 4.30am and then we'll see how the day pans out from there. Plenty of fruit, drinks, balls, sun cream and a change of socks and footwear (and a clean shirt) packed. Weather set fair so we'll give it a damn good try.

As a side piece, its stableford off full handicaps and so if it ends up a two horse race between HTL and myself, place your bets please on who is going to win. I'm on form at the moment golfing wise but HTL has youth and fitness on his side and may peak as the day wears on.

Homer v HTL - the final showdown!!!

I had a chat with some guys who did it last year. Their tip was don't stop and sit down between rounds as you will never start again, and they also recommended a quick shower and change between rounds 2 and 3, to freshen up. Eat lunch on the hoof too.

A further point was, if you do it with someone who starts lining putts up from all angles on the first green, you aren't going to make it.

Wish I could join you guys, and good luck. Hope the weather holds, as 4 rounds in the rain would be miserable.

Hope Steve turns up too, as it would be better as a three than a two.

Over 4 rounds, my money is on HTL, unless he runs out of balls.

Good luck you guys, I hope the day goes well. If I'd not been so busy at work lately I would've loved to give a marathon game like this a go, as it's something I've always wanted to do. Maybe next year...

Lining up putts, hell no that aint happening. I shall be gripping and ripping my putts John Daly style.

The losing off balls, indeed this could well be an issue as im not planning to look for more than 30sec.

Showers between round 2 + 3 are definitely on the cards. Going to give Homer a call tonight to discuss strategies. Also need to arrange some matching attire
:o

You're not playing in the buff then. I thought all this mano e mano stuff was going to lead to a bit of greco roman wrestling action.

He's built for wrestling (all that rugby) and I'm built for running away very quickly. HTL I hadn't planned to have showers but I guess we can do 2 rounds and then have lunch and some food. HID is off tomorrow and acting as our support team and can be at the club to correspond with the end of round 2 so if you want to bring a spare set of clothes and a towel you can leave it in the car and Julie will bring it up when we need it.

As for team outfit I have two red shirts which seems to be our winning colours so I'm happy to go with that. If not red in the morning and maybe white in the afternoon if it gets warmer. I'll let you decide that.

Red all the way mate. Like I always say winners wear red!

Yep, that’s what I was hoping to do. Leave the spare gear in the car. Planning to take the pencil bag with me in the morning and the trolley in the PM. The bird im seeing is coming over in the afternoon so we can all stay for a drink after, good times!

Good luck guys. Hope you complete in nice weather and looking forward to seeing some photos?
