Laser Rangefinders on misty days!

My PP's struggled with their laser range finders today in really foggy conditions. I think they are great bits of kit (although I prefer a GPS) but today's conditions weren't suited to them (in fact it was touch and go whether we should have gone out to start)

Shouldn't rely on range finders. I have one, and struggled to use it yesterday as was quite foggy.
You just have to work it out for yourself. Most courses have markers to the green, so it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out the distance...especially around your own course

Mine sometimes works in th fog and sometimes doesn't. The same with rain.

The signal from the laser has to be able to reach the target, bounce off it, and make it back to the rangefinder unimpeded. It's hardly a surprise that when something denser than air is in the way it might not work too good.

You still loving your Tour X? My laser is on its last legs maybe (that's what I am saying anyway, might just want a battery) and thinking of the Tour X cos its sexy.

Sort of.

I sometimes struggle to lock on to a flag at a distance, especially if it's red, and I never use the slope feature so it was a bit of a waste going for it. I just love gadgets and can't help myself sometimes.

That's why I have both, GPS and laser, so when one is of no use I can get a distance off the other (trees in the way, no idea where I am, fog, keep picking up trees behind the green etc)

Hmm, sounds a little like the calorie counter on my trolley.... :o
