Just got a set of Mizuno MP-68's but am very surprised that a company like Mizuno don't nowd at least a 2 iron as I wanted to convert to a 1 iron loft as this is a club I use a number of times ever round.

I though there would be a call for at least a 2 iron on tour from pros using them so I'd be able to get hold of one myself.

Don't suppose if I called Mizuno and they got enough interest they may consider making one?

I'm pretty sure you can order (normally via your pro or golf outlet) direct from most manufacturers. Beware though that it is normally only the top end clubs (blades etc) that have the additional irons. In your case I'm sure there will be a 1 or 2 iron available and that off your handicap you can probably do it something approaching justice!!!

The 68s are for really good players, so yes, I'm surprised.

All I can say is that MY set comes with two hybrids for 3 and 4 iron which I didn't want, so I would have needed to buy a 3 and 4 from another set. In the end I bought a rescue 3 and an odd Callaway 4 iron.

If you want a 1 or 2, why not try some models that ARE made in 1 or 2 irons.

Our fabulous 17 yr old assistant has a set of AP irons with a Titleist hybrid 3 iron. He wanted a "driving"-loft iron so picked up ping 2 iron out of a 2nd hand bin.

Many years ago, I had a set of Tommy Armour 845s 3-PW and played with a Callaway 2 iron. If it's a "special" club in your bag (tight driving or short holes) why not just find one that you get on with. Sadly, I sold my Callaway 2 months ago for £15.

Find a club that suits, maybe even buy a game improvement iron for forgiveness, even if you carry a set of blades. I bought the most forgiving 4 iron ever made (give or take) to put with my MX-900s and have not regretted it. I don't see why this idea couldn't be stretched to a 2 or even a 1 iron.

Very suprised they dont do a 2 iron,my mate has a g10 2 iron and that s GI iron

Maybe its a special order,i sure you can get your hands on one

OH

Hail the second coming!

Coz only god can hit a 1 iron

I carry a Ping 2 iron, you can pick them up on ebay for peanuts if you look. I dont like hybrids as I cant keep them down and I've started carrying a 5 wood again which I find more versatile.

Mizuno do/did the MP Fli Hi in a 2 iron. I've got one and its a usefull club around a links course. Certainly wouldn't entertain trying to hit a conventional 2 iron in some of the places I've hit this one. ;)

it will be the 3 & 4 irons that will go next just you watch.

You're right Freddie. Mine are.... onto ebay.

I've got Mizuno mp30 irons and the fli-hi versions of my 3 and 4 irons have been in the bag so long now that I forgot I had the original 3 and 4 iron.

They even do a 5 iron version....but hey...I have some standards.

:D

I had the same thing when I bought my MP-37's they didn't do a 1 iron so I got an MP-33 instead.

I still have the MP-33 so it looks like I'll keep that one.

I've gone to Mizuno direct and they are not going to make a 1 or 2 iron....bit of a shock to me that one.

I use my 3-iron quite a lot , usually on shortish par 4's. It gives me a lovely raking draw that gets a few admiring comments.

I did used to use a 2-iron with my old set of clubs but theyve gone to another home and the 2-iron is sitting in the garage

Most Pros go for a cavity 1/2/3 iron now days so it's hardly a suprise they don't want to make them any more if the best players see no need for them....

The difference is the pro's play for cash, I play for pleasure and IMHO there is nothing better than stripeing a real butter knife of a bladed one iron down the fairway.

But guys like you arn't going to keep Mizuno in the business of making 1 and 2 irons are you? If the pros don't want them you can kiss them goodbye. Will you still be using a 1 iron when you're 70?

If I can hit one now I will still use one not throw it out for the sake of using something else. I won't use one when I'm 70 but I'm nowhere near that so looking at the present and not the future.

I can hit my 1 iron approx 250, I doubt I'd get the same accuracy or distance with anything else...I may be wrong but it suits me very well.
