Knew It Was Coming (Too Early To Count Chickens)

I was going to post. I predict a crumble'!! glad I didn't now :D

Well done Homer. If you win it's not luck though, just a pay off for the work you put in and the new 'glass half full' outlook

Get In. Sorry Dodger my old mucker but time to eat those words. Out in level par gross to be +4 on the day. Squeaky bum time on the back nine especially when I gifted the course back the 15th and then 3 putted 16 and 17 for weak halves. Solid par for a win to come back level. +4 today and +7 overall. Its a waiting game now for the rest of the field to play their 2nd rounds either tomorrow or Monday, but two cuts coming my way and hopefully a pot too. An honours board event so name in gold letters, qualification into the end of season Masters event and some decent wedge to spend in the pro shop - IF I am lucky enough to be the winner

I await the "where did it all disappear to" thread around about this time tomorrow....
:whoo:

Well done Homer!

Looks like the move to the new pro has paid off.

Would you not say anyone goin out after you has an advantage? ie they know what they have to beat.

Done my two rounds matey. Got two cuts and still leading. Even if I don't win not a bad weekends work. Woke up to the sight of a decent drizzle for the early starters. Shame that.

I don't really care if it goes poorly next time out. I proved to myself that not only could I stand up to being in the lead after the first round, but I shot a PB on the front 9 in round two and then held it together when I did start to think way too much about it and came in with a better score than round 1. You clearly have nothing to positive to say - EVER - about my game and fair enough you're entitled to your opinion. Me - I'm just doing another rain dance and looking for a bit of wind to pick up now.

Lets not forget those on +2 behind me now have to shoot +5 (41 points equivalent) and that most of our monthly stablefords even in Div 2 and 3 are won easily with 40 so it won't be easy. I'm not saying I've an unassailable lead and if someone beats me then fair play. I would have thought 2 cuts a front 9 PB and a decent showing deserved a modicum of respect. Those that come on here and post "I shot a PB" or I won xxx get it the congratulations their milestones deserve.

Sorry Martin. I thought +7 over the two days had to win it, but I went in today and saw that a certain Mr Monk who came in with a +2 on his first round followed it up today with a staggering +9 for his second round game. Unlucky matey. A top score by you which would normally have won the comp, but at least that handicap of yours is cut to bring you closer to your target. I certainly can't see anyone beating +11!!!

Congratulations on the two cuts Homer, cracking play over two rounds, but your comment about 41 points equivalent required to win isn't quite right in bogey comps as a lost hole can score zero points. So for instance 3 halves (3x2) plus 10 wins (10x3) plus 5 losses (5x0) = +5 on holes but 36 points Stableford.

Admittedly this is an extreme example but it shows perhaps why you can get some big hole winning scores coming in as seen below. (That Mr Monk's a rotter eh?)

Gutted if its true but you can't odds great playing like that. There is usually a good score in one of the rounds in this format hence the reason I wasn't getting over excited and counting them chickens. Nothing to do but take away the positives of a PB for the front, two decent rounds, a short game coming back to life and a glorious near miss. Should get me cut quite nicely and boy has that fired me up for the next one.

Results posted and weighed in. As bash ominously predicted P Munk did shoot +9 in the second round to finish +11 overall and snatch victory. I was three shots clear of third place on +7 which was comforting. This bridesmaid bit is becoming a chore. Countback at FoA and now some guy having a great, great scoring day. Still got cut and some vouchers for 2nd place and so can't complain. Well I could but no-one would care. Part of me is gutted and part of me thinks you can't control what anyone else does and if someone goes out and shoots that low then fair play to them

best attitude to have Homer, you can only play your best (which you obviously did), the fact someone played a blinder is just one of those things. Had the same in round 3 of our team scramble comp, 10 point lead going into Sundays round, we played poor but managed 42 points. 1 team came in with 49! our lead is now down to 5 but we knew we played poor and they had a blinder.

Take the positives and runner up beats being an also ran
