There may be only a few that can relate to this or even post a reply but has anyone had knee issues after leg injuries other than the Knee...
Iv ruptured both Achilles Tendons within a 2 yr span of each other...The right first and then the left but my knees are giving me really bad pain after kneeling for periods....
My job i suppose doesnt help either being a Panel beater which requires sometimes extended periods of kneeling....
I do wear pretty decent knee pads in work but this seems to be mainly a hinge thing....If im kneeling for any period i struggle to straighten them after getting up which ususlly requires a limp or two for a moment before im ok again....
It feels like a bone issue rather than muscular or ligament....Im no Doctor!

The only conclusion i can come to is being in my walking boot for 14 weeks with the first injury...Where i was on crutches for 6 of them.....And with the 2nd injury i spent all 14 weeks in casts on crutches....
I suppose what im trying to say is would having all the body weight on either leg through those 2 periods of 14 weeks have caused these knee issues.....Im only 37 so im not ancient and i wouldnt think that its arthritis...I hope...

Its got to the point now where i cant even squat down to talk to my sisters little 'un and she's only 1.5 yrs old...

I've had terrible leg problems in the past. I was born with this thing called Bar Coalition where 2 bones in my ankle fused together seriously restricting movement in my left ankle. Causing me to walk in a peculiar way, this then caused problems in my other ankle, both knees, and then my hips as well.
I had an operation 4 years ago, to get the bone taken out, the Op was a 90% success but every now and again my ankle locks up and I can't walk!
There are still repercussions from the condition previously, I walk on the inside of my foot, quite badly on my left.

All of this has meant that I've had to get orthotics, and be very selective with any shoes that I've purchased.

It's all rather frustrating really

I remember hearing a while back that your ligaments and tendons mould to the shape you're in. That's why you sometimes get that feeling after sitting or kneeling for a time. Should subside after they stretch out. Hope that helps a bit.

My knees are shot and are starting to play merry hell in cold and damp conditions. I'm sure it is cartilage or arthritic but there is no way unless a last resort I'm missing the start of next season

the overall key here must be an appropriate stretching regieme from such things as long term kneeling - they are likely to just get tighter and tighter over time without it.

the other possibility is cartildge damage that is causing issues when compressed

but whatever it is, the answer is to see the doctor earlier rather than later; especially given the history.

GAA really knackers your body. I haven't met one person who hasn't an ache from it, a friend of mine who's very talented suffers from quite a bad back due to Gaelic Football. I myself have pulled just about every muscle that you can due to the bleeding sport!

More groins than I care to mention

One of my knees is also screwed from football. My advice would be to forget your GP and go direct to a physio who specialises in sports injury, they will far better be able to diagnose the problem and suggest an appropriate treatment plan.
