Kids golf club sets

Hi guys.

My six year old daughter has been pestering me for weeks about taking her golfing in the summer holidays and the schools finished up today!

I bought her a wee US Kids Golf putter a couple of months back and now she wants a 'bag and other clubs'. Now, the complicated part is that she's left handed, but I'm going to try and get her to play right handed, just to save any hassle in trying to find left handed bats. I've certainly got her putting right handed. :D

So, without spending a fortune, does anyone have any recommendations/experience in buying kids clubs? I'd have thought that a wee bag with a 3 wood equivalent, couple of irons and a putter would do the trick.

I bought my two junior golf sets a few years ago,stand bag,3 wood,5,7,9 iron and putter,genuine Winn grips and graphite shafts,think they were £40-£50 a set from AG.
 
Why would you teach her to play unnaturally. If she is naturally left handed let her try left handed 1st. But imagine for yourself if you try to do something with the wrong hand.

I know I'm left handed and play right handed, but the swing feels so much more natural left handed.

There are a few manufacturers out the who make left handed clubs, even on ebay as a start.

My thinking was that as she's never swung a club before, I'd thought that it wouldn't necessarily feel unnatural for her to do it right handed? Also, more difficult for her to copy me (some may say that's not a bad thing!) if she's then got to try and mirror it to hit left-handed.

If Rafa Nadal plays golf right handed, surely she can too! ;)
 
Just ordered a set of these from Amazon. Quite happy to gamble £40 and see if she's into the game. If not, they'll easily sell on. :D

I'd be interested to hear how you get on. I've been looking at clubs for my little boy but he's just a bit too small for the time being. He's only 2 1/2...but mad keen.

Luckily there's a pretty good Par 3 nine hole course just up the road from me.

Nadal is right handed. ;) He was 'forced' to play tennis left handed, at a young age. Probably why his backhand is so good. ;)
 
I'm left handed playing right, tried a left handed club a few years back and i couldn't even make contact with the ball!

I write left handed and used to box south paw, but I eat right handed ( fork in left hand)

So just because your girl is a lefty, doesn't mean she will play left handed, my advice to you would be to try her out with a club of each, see which way is most comfortable for her. I look forward to hearing how she gets on, my boy is 3 next may and I can't wait to get him into the game!

we keep asking the same mate when we see your scores when is he going to play a real course :) :) :).

got my young lad a set of callaways last year he loves them,if you get the kids involved its more golf for you and loads of brownie points taking the kids out.
 
My eldest is 8 in august and she started coming to the range with me last summer. She's had a few group lessons at the range and my course. Bought a club at a time from my range who are some part of sports direct. Dunlop clubs about £6 each think her 3wood was £10, bag about £15. She now has sw, 9i, 6i, 3wood, and putter. Think the box set was £45 and it cost me just over £50 but bought them in drubs and drabs so didn't notice the outlay. Now the plus side is I get to take her to the range, we both practice and brownie points for me in father/daughter time. Just hope the youngest takes it up to reuse te clubs. I did buy her a club when she was much younger at about 3-4 years old. Can't remember the make got it from jjb about £10.

My youngster is 2yrs 8 months. Took him up to the club for the first time today (he's been asking me for ages). He bought (with his pocket money that he saved) a Masters wedge and putter and got a few balls as well for £22. They are a little big but he naturally grips down the club.

He absolutely loved it. Played on the chipping green, practice bunker, then the putting green, then the practice net, then watched a few other people putt on the green and finally a few people tee off. I wouldn't wait mate :D
 
I've had him to the range and the putting green but only with his little plastic clubs which aren't a lot of use with real balls. I did try him with kids' clubs in the pro shop...but the putter came up to his shoulder so there didn't seem much point in going for something like that. I don't think he's ready for a broomhandle yet. :) How long are the clubs you bought (i.e. the length of the shaft)?
