Sad news.

He was the last survivor of The Match when he and fellow amateur, Harvey Ward lost at the 18th to Hogan & Nelson in a 4BBB game around 1955, I believe.

Was an excellent broadcaster although I'm not sure he ever really got the recognition for his golf outside the US he deserved.

One of the career amateurs that we don't see anymore. Could you imagine an amateur winning a US Open and finishing runner up in the Masters these days? Always enjoyed him on the tv coverage, the best of the yanks by far. RIP Mr Venturi, a gentleman player.
